Then why not talk about the countless other young pitchers that sucked early in their career and continued to suck until they dropped out of the league?
It's stupid to compare poorly performing pitchers to HOF caliber guys who struggled early. Oh, and Scherzer barely struggled.
The nature of pitching prospect is that most won't become stars... in fact most won't make it at all. They are just saying not to give up hope if they are not stars right our of the gate. They didn't say all or even most will eventually make it. They just said be patient.
