Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Coppy's tenure might end up being the most polarizing I can think of in recent memory (outside of Hinkie in the NBA).

Generally speaking, the process and results were very good, but he had some glaring mess ups along the way which seemed really obvious, even at the time.

All in all, we are at a good place three years into a massive rebuild and a lot of that is due to the initial commitment to rebuild from within.

What a weird time to be a Braves fan.

Coppy was the one who didn't want Swanson promoted early.

Coppy isn't the one who doubted Albies.

There was a lot of talk about how the FO was fractured.

And now Coppy is the one who will take the fall for this fiasco.

Seems to me Coppy was thrown under the bus, and now the "old school" guys are once again in complete control.

Man, I thought about this. I wonder if the Win now was coming from JS and Hart and Coppy kept stepping in.. anonymous tip and boom, Coppy is busted with JS and JH laughing from the ivory tower.

And now comes the refrain of "he wasn't that good anyway"

Again, though, there's no indication this stuff is coming from the Braves FO. This seems to just be stuff Passan has observed.

And once again, I'm not saying the Braves FO won't say these things. I haven't liked how they've handled it in the past and feel confident they'll probably do the same again. But I do think it's important to separate what is clearly coming from the Braves from what doesn't seem to be.

PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND

How do you think Coppy got caught? Why do you think he is the scapegoat? You really think the GM title means he is solely responsible for whatever rule was broken? You don't think Hart and JS knew about whatever Coppy did?

Now we get more info about how everyone hated Coppy.

And you STILL have your head in the sand.

You keep trying to change the topic of this thread from Coppy's resignation and what it might mean for the Braves to "I was right and you are all idiots."

How about we focus on what this means to the Braves instead of how brilliant Enscheff is.

If we bring in Dayton Moore we will further shoot ourselves in the foot

Agree with this. I always worry about rash decisions and over-corrections with this team (see Dan Uggla signing, etc.). Dayton is supposedly an upstanding guy and the Braves obviously faced with ethical questions now, but I fear Dayton is behind the curve in a rapidly-changing industry. Would prefer we identify a high-performing young GM and hire him away from someone with a President of Baseball Ops title.

We know the Braves made several moves that didn't mesh with each other during the rebuild.

We know Coppy did everything but explicitly come out and say, "I didn't want to promote Swanson".

We know one of the most respected sports writers on the planet claims there was infighting in the FO.

Anyone who can't connect the dots here is willingly keeping their head buried in the sand. I've been saying it for months.

The guys above Coppy promised a certain revenue number when the new stadium deal was put in place. All the sub-optimal "win now" moves were done to drive attendance and revenue in 2017. Coppy was almost certainly against these sub-optimal moves, and a rift formed in the FO.

The MLB team sucked, revenue is down, and now Coppy is out. The old school faction of leadership is solely in control, and everything will be blamed on Coppy "not really being a rising star", thus guaranteeing the old school guys keep their jobs. The Coppy bashing has only just begun. By the end of the week he will be considered the worst GM in Braves history...just like they did to Wren.

This is basic corporate "save my own ass" bull**** 101. I've been saying it was happening for months. It is happening right before our eyes, yet some pozzies are STILL keeping their heads in the sand.

Well, I was right, and all you idiots insisted on disagreeing despite all evidence sitting in front of your face.

Now we all have to pray to whatever God seems appropriate that another "Wren cleansing" doesn't happen with Coppy's departure and set the team back another 2-3 years.

But yeah, I'm sure the pozzies are huddled around as I type this coming up with how they are going to pozzy-spin this fiasco.

Nothing will change unless JS and Hart are gone. The character assassinations of Coppy and Wren are indications the two at the top are holding the strings.

So much this.... Looks like we will try to sell off all of our valuable assets again and play non-sabermetric ball just to try to get these old goats a winner in 2018 when they just need to wait one more year before making a big move.

It sucks to see Alex Wood and Simmons performing at a high level for another team knowing they were both young and cost controlled for years before we traded them.

They would have both wasily given us more wins this year and maybe a wild card spot.

Expect to see a lot more. The team sucked, revenue was way down, and Coppy is going to take the blame.

There was a rift in the FO between smart guys and dumb guys, and the dumb guys won. Barves Way!!

Agreed. Leaving Hart and JS in place when something of this magnitude occurred under them is insane. There's no way something this major took place and neither of them were aware of it.

I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of activity on Jeff Wren's twitter feed. He must have gotten together with Chip for a post season party last night.
