If a brown person had killed 69, they'd be talking about banning a religion or building a 2,000 mile wall. Instead, we get, "Try ducking."

Wasn't a friend of your injured in a shooting in Virginia a couple back ?
How are they

Notice the quotes aren't about the types of weapons. It's about a free citizenry having arms

Founding fathers >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 57 & goldy

More people died in one shooting than all the cases of in-person voter fraud in over a decade, and Trump wants us to do nothing about it.

Yes - I recognize that you only see freedom as a cliche.

The left is definitely winning on that front

When weighing freedom and you value one being able to walk around with a shopping cart armory over people innocently attending a movie, concert or children in school
Then justifying the owning a shopping cart .. as a "freedom"
yes your use of the word is cliched

It has no meaning
It is in fact the opposite.

59 people died while one expressed his "freedom"
cliche is being polite

Quite the scheme the left has going.

An apparent radical leftist (still to be determined) shoots up a bunch of 'Gun toting Republicans' and now the left screams about gun control.

ah, 18th century weapons thinking to govern 21st century weapons

makes total sense

The founding fathers believed the citizenry should have access to the same weapons that the military had. Several Revolutionary War officers owned their own cannons. So the modern day interpretation of the 2nd Amendment has actually made quite a bit of allowance for modern day weaponry.

I've said it before, but it really is a shame that Washington can't come together enough to update the 2nd Amendment with some specificity. I don't believe anyone wants the public to have access to surface to air missiles, or rocket propelled grenades, or a whole lot of other stuff.

Instead of doing that, they pass the buck to the Supreme Court to effectively legislate it in perpetuity. It's a farce.

If you run into any right wing people who say we can't have gun control because it's a matter of liberty no matter what happens, ask them their opinion on drug prohibition.

Most Americans support stronger gun laws — laws that would reduce deaths. But Republicans in Congress stand in the way. They fear alienating their primary voters and the National Rifle Association.

All of these representatives are Republican. The highest ranked Democrat in the House is Sanford Bishop, who ranks 41st in career donations from the N.R.A. Among the top 100 House recipients, 95 are Republican. In the Senate, the top two Democrats are Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Patrick Leahy of Vermont, who rank 52nd and 53rd — behind every Republican but Dan Sullivan of Alaska.

Note: John McCain received the bulk of his donations as the 2008 Republican presidential nominee. For all Congress members, total includes both direct campaign contributions as well as outside money spent on behalf of candidates from the N.R.A.'s Political Action Committees and directly from the N.R.A.'s 501(c)(4) social welfare arm, which does not have to disclose its donors to the public. Figures also subtract independent expenditures for and against opponents if the candidate did not compete in a general election. Dollar figures are career totals back to 1989.

Correction: Oct. 4, 2017

An earlier version of this graphic misidentified the home state of Representative Don Young. He is from Alaska, not Arkansas. It also included incorrect data from the Center for Responsive Politics, which they have since corrected. The total amount from the N.R.A. that benefited Senator Richard Burr was $6.99 million, not $5.90 million

So 57, I'm curious, do you believe that opinion polls should be the primary factor when choosing whether to enact laws?
