4/29 rubber game vs Phillies

No way in hell I make that trade. Soroka is way to valuable.

I was thinking the same, plus Pache and Wilson are pretty solid prospects too. But I am sold on Soroka so no way on him.

I'm making room for Soroka in the rotation by trading Folty or Newk before I am trading him. IOW, Miami has a better shot at getting one of them from us than Soroka if I am the GM.

Okay, new twitter argument that I want to discuss here. Given Suzuki and Flower's production over the last year+, if we had an opportunity to trade for JT Realmuto right now should we do it? Especially seeing that our window to compete looks like it might open a year early? I'm of the mind that it would probably be a poor allocation of resources to trade for Realmuto since Suzuki and Flowers have been so unexpectedly good. I think we should save our resources to potentially trade for bullpen pieces or 3rd base.

The specific trade that I mentioned in the discussion was Soroka, Pache, and Wilson for Realmuto. I said I would turn it down, he said he would accept it in a heartbeat. What say you Chopcountry.

What an awful trade, yikes.

Keep your f’ing hands off Soroka.

Soroka, Wright, Gohara, Folty/Newcomb, McCarthy could be the rotation next year. So that would leave Newcomb/Folty, Teheran, Allard, Wilson and whoever else as trade bait for a bat or better starter.

Braves were "supposed" to hang around .500 depending on youth development. If Acuna, Swanson, and Albies all play like the A to A+ level prospects they were. Then we're set on the offensive side of the ball coupling those 3 with Freeman. Doesn't matter about pretty much any of the rest of it as long as it's averagish.

Pitching I think is performing over it's head. Our ERA-FIP is one of the best in baseball, and usually that's a sign of one of 2 things that could happen. First is our FIP improves, YAY. But more likely our ERA rises. I hope we improve there. But I think some regression will set in.

I am hoping more the FIp drops some. We are allowing too many walks and that will get better I am hoping.

Thought we were supposed to see matz Tuesday night. Now it shows Thor, deGrom, and the rookie that replaced Harvey

I really wouldn't be looking for a bat at this point. I would be interested in another top half of the rotation starter if the right opportunity presented itself. I feel like sending a big package for a bat could set us back. We don't really need Realmuto.

I would trade for Realmoto, but only if the cost was right. He's a 27 year old catcher so odds of him staying productive at a high level past his rookie contract are small. That being said his production right now is excellent. Above average offense and great defense for 2 and a half years has a heck of a lot of value. But I still wouldn't touch our top prospects with him. And the main reason is because of division rivals. Now if you sub out Soroka for Fried. I'm right there. Do it. I don't really want to lose Pache or Wilson, both have value. I don't want to see Fried kicking our ass in a few years, but I consider that less likely to happen than Soroka.

And that is the big reason I don't want us to become buyers. I would rather try and sort out who's real and who isn't from our current crop of prospects/young guys. Aside from in the majors in FFolty and Newcomb, you also have Gohara, Allard, Soroka, all ready now as well as Fried. Might as well see who's real and who isn't. Trade one of Julio or McCarthy and go with 4 young bucks and see who's got it and who will be moved to the bullpen or traded.

got to attend all three games this weekend. obviously yesterday was the most fun.
acuna hit that rocket and it definitely looked like it was going out. pissed it didn't.
ozzie is just incredible. nothing needs to be said about that guy.
great series win.

How much do you guys think it would take to get Brad Hand?

Would that be a worthwhile acquisition based on where the team stands currently? Would the Padres make the deal?

If you add a high leverage bullpen arm to the mix then I think we have a clear shot at making the playoffs.

you're on the right track...lefty reliever from a non-contending team...but I would shop in a cheaper aisle...no hurry either...lets see how Minter, Freeman, Biddle and Fried do in May and June
