My theory is AA offered Riley plus whatever to Miami and it's still sitting there. And Miami is trying to get someone to top that offer if it stands. I still believe Mish on this, he's a legit guy with the Marlins, broke the Ozuna/Yelich trades and has been on top of JTR all winter long.

And who gives a **** about the Thor/Dickey trade 6 years ago or whenever it was. That was a bad move by AA, and i hope he's learned from it.

This is well said.

No one does... clv just decided he needed to write a blogs worth of material on defending AA...

Yup in the professional world one of the most valuable things we do is screw up because we usually learn a lot from those screw ups. It's the people who refuse to think they screwed up that end up having a tough time

One of the best things for us is that AA did screw up a deal. This is exactly why he’s holding on to the kids so long.

While true, we cant hold onto everyone and not everyone is gonna pan out, and some guys values drop so you need to trade some of them before they drop.

Nobody suggests that. I’m saying it’s why he hasn’t come in here wheeling and dealing. He is being patient. That’s a good thing.

Hmm. That is a reasonable deal on Brantley at two years and no option. Similar to the Morton deal, I'll be a little disappointed if the Braves didn't make an offer.

We probably did but he picked the Astros over us, probably thinks they have a better shot at winning a world series again.

Astros will look to trade Josh Reddick if this deal is completed. They also hope to sign Nelson Cruz.

I would have been all over that if i was AA, we better get JTR and/or trade for an outfielder, need more bats ASAP.

I thought this might happen as Houston has been targeting Brantley and Cruz all winter, they want both and will trade Reddick if so. My guess is they will get both too. But for us, I still say trade for JTR if the Marlins come to their senses and send relief help to the Cardinals for Jose Martinez for the OF. Cardinals want a lefty reliever for him, maybe Freeman and another prospect gets it done if they like Freeman at all.
