2018 Offseason And Targets

I’m still predicting Gray and Frazier.

Bowman once again made the pitch for acquiring Gray in his latest blabberfest

“But now that there's further reason to believe Kluber will stay in Cleveland, it may be time to stop thinking about a potential ace and weighing the potential value of providing someone like Sonny Gray a change of scenery.”

If that comes with a trade for Realmuto, whatever. Clint Frazier would be a letdown with all the possible options available for the outfield.

Hehe...maybe JJ Reddick tho

The Braves don’t need guards, but Josh Reddick makes sense as a platoon partner with Duval.

That would definitely be disappointing, and 2/26 for Reddick would be moronic when Brantley just signed for 2/32.

Gray and 6 seasons of Frazier along with 2 seasons of JTR would be pretty solid depending on the acquisition costs in each deal

Donaldson, Brantley, Ramos were my three preferred targets.

Cutch was reasonable alternative.

Pollock is right there too, but losing a draft pick and going more years wouldn’t make much sense.

It’s sliding towards a Markakis and other cheap option, which might not be horrendous but will be disappointing. Particularly if they pay Markakis anything.

Perfectly logical conclusion to draw from this.

The Astros might be silly good.

Every Astros fan would die. Wouldn't that be close to trading acuna for realmuto a year ago (Top 5 overall prospect)? We would all be sore from that even before Acuna's 2018 season. Tucker's AAA numbers a year ago were stupid. He could be this year's Acuna.

I think they trade/dump Reddick.

Astros fans overvalue Astros prospects just like every other fanbase does.

Tucker is a FV 60 with a surplus value around $55M. JTR carries about $60M in surplus value over the next 2 seasons.

Tucker for JTR straight up is almost perfectly fair.

Should the Astros shorten their window and go all in for the next 2 seasons? I’d suggest no, but maybe they feel differently.

I agree they are more likely to dump Reddick...hopefully not to the Braves

Tucker's under control for 6-7 years, not sure Houston gives him up and others for 2 years of Realmuto. They're most likely losing Marwin as well, and i think they try to dump Reddick, and give playing time to Tucker. Tucker's value is as high as it'll ever be, so maybe they flip him now.

But imagine this lineup.

C- Realmuto, 1B- Yuli, 2B- Altuve, SS- Correa, 3B- Bregman, LF- Brantley, CF- Springer, RF- Reddick, DH- Cruz.

Where is an easy out at lol.

I’m still holding out hope for Haniger or Peralta. We know AA has already had talks about them and they shot him down. Maybe he went back in with a better offer.

You get ‘em out more than 7 out of 10 times. :)

That contract makes me think there's something concerning in Brantley's medicals. Teams seemed to shy away more than you'd expect.

I personally don’t think realmuto is good enough to concentrate that much value in one player, but maybe astros are low on tucker now.

And that would be relevant if the trade happened in the off season before 2012. But it happened in the 2012-2013 off-season when Snydergaard was ranked 54th by BA, 29th by MLB.com, and 28th by Baseball Prospectus.

Oh. Sorry.

So he was behind Kyle Crick, Danny Hultzen, Matt Barnes, Taylor Gurrieri, Carlos Martinez, Bauer, Archer, Bradley, Miller, Wacha, Sanchez, Julio, Kyle Zimmer, Gausman, Taillon, Taijuan Walker, Wheeler, Jose Fernandez, Skaggs, Cole, and Bundy.

That means less people missed on him?
