The Wall

You know, there’s a reason that there hasn’t been meaningful progress on the wall even after two years of Republican control of Congress. The reason, in simple terms, is that it’s a dumb idea, and virtually everyone in the decision-making sphere recognizes this. Your continued assertion that we have to build a physical barrier across the entirety of the southern border in order to find out how drugs are smuggled ties a pretty neat bow on this hypothesis.

Never said the entire border.

Im suppposed to take solace that our decision makers know what they are doing?

The last 2 bars are the last 2 years under Trump. That's your crisis of the soul.

How can the GOP expect all TSA & other workers to reliably show up without a paycheck?

Workers rely on services like childcare and transit to work in the first place. Those services don’t take IOUs.

It’s not that workers “refuse” to work w/o a paycheck. Without pay, many can’t.

that is a great idea --- we could rid ourselves of those jack booted Air Traffic Controllers so then pilots are "free" to take off, land and use whatever flight path's their little Libertarian hearts desire.

What a nonsensical notion .

who are "the airports " ???

who arbitrates when LaGuardia and Kennedy disagree on which plane goes where

and when out of necessity the "airports" do confederate searching a method to arbitrate these differences , and they will, what do you call that ?

You should read up on early 20th century Mafia.
.....

I am beginning to think you are the most Utopian of Chop Country

Well, you didn’t, but this is from the 2016 Republican platform: “The border wall must cover the entirety of the southern border and must be sufficient to stop both vehicular and pedestrian traffic”

Next he’s gonna claim Mexico wasn’t gonna pay for it

Because Airport security was a joke before 9/11.

Airport screeners working for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reportedly failed to detect weapons more than 70 percent of the time in undercover tests — but that massive failure rate is actually an improvement from a similar test two years ago.

Undercover investigators were able to smuggle mock knives, guns and explosives through airport checkpoints earlier this year, and succeeded far more often than they failed. But at least airport security is improving— slightly. When investigators did the same thing two years earlier, TSA equipment and personnel failed 95 percent of the time, prompting major changes in the agency, the training academy for screening officers and in updated procedures so that security could be more thorough.

TSA was nothing but a massive overreaction to a tragedy that doesn't do any good... but costs Americans billions in productivity losses - not to mention the right to not be molested by the government

My position and your position cannot be supported by anything other than our opinions. We will have to see what the data shows when the wall is erected.

Right now a tremendous amount of drugs are flowing through our country from South of the Border. That much is known. Everything else is speculation.

It is not speculation that 90+ % of drugs come in from POE's. These are facts. A wall will not affect this whatsoever. And considering how much money the government makes from the drug trade, it's unlikely to change any time soon.

I already addressed this. That is based on apprehensions. The whole point is we can't quantify what isn't being found so to perform a ration analysis on how to prioritize the methods to stop all drug flow is a futile exercise.

You're saying the US Government, who spends twice the amount of money on national defense as any other nation, doesn't know where the majority of drugs are being funneled? Give me a break.

Even if I were to accept that, we can make pretty accurate estimates based on the amount of drugs found and the frequency on arrests made at non POE's.

We could always end the war on drugs and kill the drug smuggling problem overnight.

nah... we need the gubment to save us all with more laws

I'm all for that too. But again, the government makes billions every year from the drug trade. They have no incentive to stop it.
