Now is the time to sign Kimbrel with Philly worrying about Harper.
I dont think padre fans were fun to be around last year when they signed Hosmer. Vert short sighted when it seems they have intentions when trying to get Machado and harper a year later.
I remember how unbearable it was to be around Braves fans when Maddux signed.

No. Weren’t we good when we signed him.
Except the Braves were coming off winning the division and signed the best pitcher in baseball. Padres came off a losing season and spent 20 million for a 1B to put up a 720 OPS.
Yep. Keep using the numbers AFTER the signing to prove your point. Given that reasoning, Machado's about to becoma a .240, 15 HR a year guy.
Should have just stopped trying.

It's wasn't hard to see Hosmer going to San Diego and bombing considering he sucked in 2016 and 2014. He's very Chris Johnson like in that his offense is BABIP fueled. It was a bad signing then and even worse now. Machado is a future HOFer and is a good signing. Had they waited a year the could have had both Harper and Machado. Hosmer is a case of spending money just to spend it to make fans like you happy.

Can someone sell me on why adding Kimbrel would be a good thing? You'd be giving up our second round draft pick and the draft pool money that comes with it (basically $1 million) to invest in an aging reliever whose velocity is down, walks are up and strikeouts are down.
I know everyone is desperate for a move, and I'm falling into that group too, but am I missing something on why Kimbrel should be the move?

I thought I read here it was a 3rd round pick. Is it 2nd or 3rd?
Everything I've seen is that it's our third highest pick, which would be our second rounder because of the Stewart comp pick.
