Braves interested in CK and DK

Just a thought but with us getting the all star game in 2021, can we expect a boost in revenue and/or payroll? If that is the case a 3 year deal at $15m AAV maybe with an option might not be a bad thing for Kimbrel.

I doubt CK wants a multi year deal unless, it's 3 years guaranteed at 15 million in AAV at least. I'd be willing to be he wants the highest 1 year offer he can get and then go after a multi year deal in FA. If he pitches well and stays healthy, it's pretty likely he at least matches what Zach Britton got this past off-season. It's even possible a dumb team with money to burn gives him the big contract he really wants at 60+ million.

I'm sure CK had offer of 1 year before, i dont know if thats what he's looking for.

Given there's no compensation for him now, i'd be surprised if he settles for a 1 year deal.

Considering we have Ozzie and Acuna on team friendly contracts for the next decade, there's certainly more money to add players in free agency now.

Dont know if it's Kimbrel or not however.

I doubt the 1 year offer has been made anytime recently. At this point, he can pocket the 15 million for a half a season and get the 3 year deal at the AAV he wants in the off-season. Not saying he doesn't want a multi year deal, but again, I would think it would have to be 3/45 at the least for CK to accept. Will a team give him that? Who knows. But certainly there is the possibility to make more money by taking the highest 1 year offer now and getting that 3 year contract in the off-season.

The Ozzie and Acuna deals have minimal impact on payroll this year or next year. They do free up payroll about the time those two players would have started getting expensive via arbitration (which would be 2021 for Albie and 2022 for Acuna).

We do have some flexibility for this year. But mainly has to do with Brantley turning down our offer and Muk accepting a much lower offer as our plan B.

Really wish we got Brantley, he's been crushing the ball in Houston. That one hurt, but cant blame him to going to one of the top 2-3 teams in baseball.

I do agree the Acuna/Ozzie deals will become a factor when they were going to arb, but if you non-tender Gausman, and we'll see what happens with Julio, there's some money to play with still.

I'll never understand why these FA deals drag out so long. What were teams and these 2 FAs doing the last month if not preparing for this day? Was anyone caught off guard this morning?..."oh hey, Kimbrel is now a FA, maybe we should look into signing him!".

The reason those two are still out there is their mistaken take on the market for their services. That didn't change at midnight.

Well I doubt they started getting offers at midnight

we're twelve hours past midnight

also teams who wanted to avoid losing a draft pick could have negotiated a deal ahead of the deadline and held off on formally signing one

I meant I doubt teams waited till midnight to make offers. I'm sure both knew the offers well before last this morning

Yeah, I think they’re still being stubborn, which is another reason I think the Braves won’t get Kimbrel. We’ll see who caves first, the players or the teams.
