Braves interested in CK and DK

Morosi: The #Braves are *not* among the finalists to sign Craig Kimbrel, source says. @MLBNetwork

It better be because he wants a long-term deal, or AA needs to be fired ASAP.

I agree. Absolutely no reason CK shouldn't be our top priority if he is willing to accept a 1 year deal.

Just ****ing bologna.

There is no reason with our market size that we can't be one of the crown jewels of baseball. We are literally the only team in the entire South.

It will be 30 years without a World Series at this rate.

This is overrated imo. His decline years, barring health, will likely still be among the best closers in baseball, even he isn't quite the elite closer he was 2 years ago.

Likely among the best? That’s a strong assumption about someone who had a poor second half and also happened to be the worst pitcher in the playoffs. It’s more of a gamble than you are admitting to yourself. Still if he would only take a 1 year deal it’s a no brainer

Personally, I don't think there is a hell of a lot of decline risk with him. And I consider the playoffs just another small sample. It really just comes down to whether his command is there or not.

That's the difference in his being a really good reliever and an elite one.

None of that basically good feeling about his abilities makes me particularly interested in overpaying him.

The front office had an entire team at the winter meetings. AA has also commented that the GM meeting and Winter Meeting are not the greatest times to make deals. He prefers to operate from the office where the information and analysis can be accessed fully. I think too much is being read into the fact he left the Winter Meeting to go to the corporate meeting.

Apparently there's no need for GMs to attend then?

There's absolutely no reason that kind of corporate meeting couldn't have been scheduled a week earlier or later to allow AA to be there, even if it was a "just-in-case something pops up" kind of thing.
