Let's get back on topic. Man, how about that game last night, right? The Braves sure did beat those Pirates on 6/10. That Markakis came up big.
Can we all at least agree we’d rather have Markakis for one year at $6-million than Bryce Harper at thirteen years and $330-million?
Or Machado and his .730 OPS at 10/300
For that comp, I’d bring up Donaldson at 1/$23 (.775 OPS, 108 wRC+, 0.8 fwar, 1.5 bwar) against Machado’s 10/$300 (.730 OPS, 96 wRC+, 1.0 fwar, 0.8 bwar).
Looks like being value junkies isn’t all that terrible.
Another way to slice it: Harper and Machado have been paid around $20-million so far this year to cumulatively produce 2.5 fwar / 1.6 bwar, while Markakis and Donaldson have been paid around $9.5-million to cumulatively produce 1.6 fwar / 2.6 bwar.
This thread reminds me that I need to B my L on some Ts.
Please don’t talk about the Braves and Pirates in the Braves and Pirates thread. This thread is a competition to win the grand prize of who is right.
the question I kept asking this off-season is whether there was a more cost-effective way to spend 29M than to bring in Donaldson, Markakis and McCann on one year deals (one year plus option in the case of Markakis)...still waiting for an answer

They do that at Olive Garden?
At the very least, spending big on the relief market—regardless of the team’s 2019 relief performance—was demonstrably not a better flex.
Your mom does that at Olive Garden.
Sorry, but she’s more the Macaroni Grille type.
