GDT 6/13/19: Going for Lucky Number 7

Brand new idea for the board :
How about our expert talks about baseball and not other posters? That he takes the high road ?
I feel like this place is a barroom where everybody is trying to have fun and shoot some bull around. Except for one guy who sits there with google out on his phone constantly nagging everyone’s blurts - as if they even really mean them- and then cannot understand why everyone gets turned off by his antics.
His baseball knowledge is awesome, but this is just a pastime and no one takes it that damn seriously. If it is honestly autism or something then I apologize.
Thoughts?

Julio has always been a guy who has consistently out performed his peripherals by about .5 runs. My theory is his excellent pick off move eliminates base runners, and also decreases the amount of base running value opponents can accumulate...which isn't reflected in FIP/xFIP/xwOBA.

Right now he is out performing his peripherals by 2x-3x his usual amount.

The answer: .238 BABIP, 80.7% LOB, and 10.1% HR/FB rates.

Mystery solved. He's the back end starter we know he is, getting some unsustainable results.

I look at a baseball season as kind of a relay race. Not every guy is going to be good all season long. There will be peaks and valleys and Julion is having a peak stretch right now and when he regresses, someone else will hopefully pick up the baton and go with it. The thing with Teheran is that he just throws so many pitches. His WHIP isn't that bad, but it always seems like he's wriggling off the hook.

But yeah, he's a backend starter who is throwing well right now.

Crimson can’t always be right on time; but he’s mighty close to it.

My job site has horrible connection. But, better late than never......

Its possible that lurkers and former posters might spend a little more time here without the constant animus. Julion3000 comes to mind, probably dozens of others. I honestly hadn't thought of the possibility of mental illness.

It’s amazing what folks will tell themselves to make them feel better about not being as smart/successful/whatever as someone else haha.

The simple truth is I think it’s funny to point out how stupid someone is. There are a lot of stupid people on this board that post a lot of stupid things. It’s a veritable bonanza of entertainment whenever I have a few minutes to kill.

From the ignoramus that runs his own failed Braves blog while claiming he doesn’t care that much, to the guy who has an axe to grind with me because I pointed out Newk wasn’t really throwing 104 after he adamantly and angrily defended it for 5 pages over an hour, to the guy who is relentlessly and ignorantly optimistic...this place has it all.

For that, I thank you all.

I think you might be self-absorbed, deranged or flat-out sick. Lol

I prefer baseball talk. Disagreements happen. But I'm happy for Julio. Always liked him ups and downs and everything. Hope he continues. He cares about winning and wants to do well.
