Mark Melancon to Atlanta per Passan

So, this means 3 guys currently in the pen go down. I'm guessing Walker, Sobotka and Minter.

Its not such a bad thing having them pitch in AAA in August. Webb will also have to be in AAA for a while. No room in the inn.

Hopefully minter is used in one of these deals. I know that's doubtful

Hopefully the Braves only face RHH now that they have 3 new RHP.

Melancon is coming off a strong July.

Also is good against lefties.

Career FIP against lefties 2.89 vs 2.91 against righties.

Career xFIP against lefties 3.01 vs 3.15 against righties.

So while the 3 guys we got today are RHPs, at least in the case of Melancon we have someone who we can leave in against lefties.

Greene has negative splits this year, but better to go with a larger sample. For his career, Greene has a 4.29 FIP against lefties and 3.93 FIP against righties. Pretty conventional.

Moving on to Martin, career FIP against lefties of 3.79 and 3.71 against righties. And xFIP is 3.04 against lefties and 3.43 against righties.

I would have liked one of the three to be a lefty but both Melancon and Martin have a strong track record against lefty hitting.

So we've officially moved Swarzak and Jackson down into middle relief.

Glad AA felt he needed more than just 1 arm. Swarzak has been due to regress for a while. Jackson can't be playing around with his bad luck in the 9th anymore.

I feel confident that Greene, Melancon, Martin can all take turns closing if needed.

We just now need a manager that can actually utilize the pieces properly.
