Expects Yuge Games
Dayton seems to be making a case. Swarzak is out for me. O'Day making a case as well.
Against the Dodgers I would want a third lefty in the pen and Dayton would be the guy. Against the Cards there is less need.

What about the Brewers who could still catch the cards.

We should have rested him more the first week.
To be honest I am getting worried about the NLDS. The way we have performed after clinching plus the injuries...granted the games mean nothing but it is tough to just turn on that switch...also with Freeman hurting, can he be the Freeman we need?

So these are the 25 I would take against the Cards:
4 Starting Pitchers: Folty, Keuchel, Soroka, Fried
8 Relievers: Melancon, Greene, Martin, Jackson, Newk, Blevins, Tomlin, Teheran
2 Catchers: McCann, Flowers
5 Infielders: Freeman, Albies, Swanson, Donaldson, Hech
6 Outfielders: Acuna, Muk, Joyce, Duvall, Hamilton, Ortega
I go with Ortega over Riley or Cervelli because of the predominance of right handed pitching on the Cards roster.
I go with Teheran over other options like O'Day and Swarzak because he can provide cover in a long extra inning game or one where a starter gets removed early.
In my end of season update I’ve got Fried in the rotation and I’ve moved Teheran and O’Day to the bullpen. I have Flowers as our primary starter at catcher and added Cervelli to the bench to allow McCann to act as our primary lefty bench bat vs the Cards. I also like Cervelli’s chances not to embarrass himself with the bat in a postseason series against RHP better than Riley’s. With the Cardinals having no lefty SP and Duvall being the first righty off the bench Riley’s opportunities vs LHP would be highly limited.
Below is my final roster
Starting Pitchers
Keuchel
Soroka
Folty
Fried (moved up)
Lefty Relievers
Blevins
Newk
Righty Relievers
Teheran
O’Day (moved up)
Greene
Jackson
Martin
Melancon
Lineup
Acuna
Albies
Freeman
Donaldson
Markakis
Joyce
Swanson
Flowers (moved up)
Bench
McCann
Duvall
Hamilton
Hechavarria
Cervelli (moved up)
Potential Between Series Additions
Riley (moved down)
Inciarte (injured)
Dayton
Injury Only Between Series Additions
Ortega
Tomlin
Swarzak
Murphy (added)
Having both Julio/Tomlin seems a bit excessive, O'Day should make it over one instead.

\We've actually carried 2 long guys most of the season. Tomlin plus Toussaint for the first half. More recently there has been a rotating cast of others (sometimes called up briefly from the minors when the situation has called for it).
The main reason 2 long men in the pen is desirable is that typically you have to rest them for a few days after a multi-inning outing. The idea is to have one in reserve after you burn the other.
