Impeachment

Volker testified that Biden's request to have the prosecutor in Ukraine dismissed was in line with US policy. Not that we didnt know this but some people are refusing to hear it.

The trying to act like the are equal is the most genuinely dishonest thing ever

And devoid of historical facts backing why that was the policy from everyone not named Russia

So, early returns, it appears to my eyes that Trump's defenders are going back to the "scapegoat Rudy" stratagem which backfired so spectacularly last time.

"Oh, no, all those times he told someone 'talk to Rudy,' the President never meant that! When he mentioned Burisma and Rudy, he had no idea what it meant! This was all Rudy gone rogue, doing things the President never knew about!"

Meanwhile, Trump himself rejects that defense and sticks to the increasingly ridiculous protestations of innocence and legality.

"Well, yes, we fired the woman who was actively fighting corruption in The Ukraine because she was also pushing back against our own corruption in The Ukraine... But we only did all of that to fight corruption in The Ukraine!"

One of the big unknowns is what Trump being in charge of his own defense strategy is going to bring.

We've been seeing a form of self-impeachment (with an assist from Mulvaney) since this whole Ukraine thing began.

My hope (and it is a faint one at the moment) is that a group of Republican senators will band together and come up with a strategy for a negotiated surrender of sorts. I think if push comes to shove chosen one will fold.

The Cyclist Who Flipped Off Trump’s Motorcade Just Won A Virginia Election.

Reports are Rand Paul will release whistle blowers name.
What is in it for him ?
Why would he stick his neck out ?

His behavior for some time points to some sort of calculation on his part that he can inherit chosen one's base.

There's also the fact that he has by his own admission personally shuttled love letters back and forth between Trump and Putin. He's got to hang in there for pardon hopes.

Fascinating read. Especially the GOP's opening objections.

Transcript of the Deposition of William B. Taylor

MR. NUNES: I thank the gentleman. Once again, we're here for what you' re calling an impeachment inquiry, but there are no rules governing an impeachment inquiry. There's been no organization of this impeachment inquiry, and so we're essentially operating under a lawless situation.

It looks pretty darned organized to me.

He is right. Changing your testimony absolutely sounds fishy. And probably 99%% of the time, it happens because the person lied to begin with because they knew they were guilty.

I love how Graham tries to question the reliability of Sondland's revised testimony but was perfectly fine believing the original, despite his original testimony not matching up with the other evidence brought forward.
