So, early returns, it appears to my eyes that Trump's defenders are going back to the "scapegoat Rudy" stratagem which backfired so spectacularly last time.
"Oh, no, all those times he told someone 'talk to Rudy,' the President never meant that! When he mentioned Burisma and Rudy, he had no idea what it meant! This was all Rudy gone rogue, doing things the President never knew about!"
Meanwhile, Trump himself rejects that defense and sticks to the increasingly ridiculous protestations of innocence and legality.
"Well, yes, we fired the woman who was actively fighting corruption in The Ukraine because she was also pushing back against our own corruption in The Ukraine... But we only did all of that to fight corruption in The Ukraine!"
