Ah yes. Quality of life means nothing. If you’re lucky the teen parents might drop out of school and get dead end jobs. If you’re lucky they might find a group to scapegoat for their problems and become good Trump Republicans. We had better not do anything to help them raise their kids though because that would be socialism.
On the other hand we could support them having a choice and give them options with their life. Then maybe when they’re older and have some stability in their life they could choose to have children in that was their preference.
The funny thing is if I were in California I’d be talking about states rights and low federal taxes. Then if they kept their money in state they could fund all the things they want to do. Honestly if I lived in one of those places I would truly hate conservative rural America. Of course I’m in the south and I hate it.
California is nothing like Alabama and is drug down being in the same country with some of these places.

Family mostly. Then later there was the issue of the fact I have business here. The Atlanta area is alright actually though. It’s the influence of the rural and small town parts of the state that drive me absolutely insane. On a personal level though I avoid all of that but every time I hear a politician pandering to that element and encouraging ignorance I pretty much want to vomit.

California has had stricter rules on auto emissions since the 1970s. Call that job crushing if you want. But there is something called an externality that I've tried to explain to you before, most recently in the context of infectious diseases. But air pollution is another example of an externality. Someone else has to breath the emissions from your car. Government is on solid ground in using its power to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases. Of course there is room to debate what is the most effective and efficient way to go about doing it.
Some states don't seem to care about externalities. Louisiana allows refineries and other businesses to pump stuff out that harms the health of local residents. That's pretty bad policy. But I guess they feel they need the jobs.

i dunno...you might want to look at census data...people have been moving south and west for a long time...still hasn't helped the toothless, obese, uneducated red states pull even in things that matter like life expectancy, education, income and IQ...if anything the gap is widening, which is consistent with my hypothesis about what happens to average IQ in the two areas as a result of migration...there is a small flow of smart people from red to blue and a much larger flow of below average folk in the other direction
for example, if you have a talent in the arts you end up in NY, Chicago or LA...the ones who can't cut it there go back home
