Maybe I should have actually listened to the clip. After looking at what this is about I cant help but laugh. This is exactly what Republicans wanted to do except they had far less real justification. The bars been forever lowered. I support using Republicans logic against Republicans.
The border areas of Maryland and Virginia are effectively Washington DC as is. You either redistrict areas out of those two states into DC or you just dissolve DC into the two states.
Giving DC statehood is effectively giving three states to the never ending monstrosity that is the federal government.

I feel like the only standard anymore is "is it legal" and "who can stop them". I think DC being a state is absurd but we need some changes in Congress as a whole. Gerrymandering in the house distorts the representation and in the Senate the minority of the country has way too many seats. Yes, I know the purpose of the Senate but the balance is off. California needs to be broken up into 3 states desperatlately imo.

I see no reason why citizens of DC shouldn't be represented in the Senate
regardless their "district" voting history.

What would you expect from the CCP Trumpocrats. If these companies were taking action against Democrats they would be cheering. These companies see who the clear majority is. They know the 81+ million Biden voters are watching. They arent going to cater to the 55 million or so who voted for disgraced former President trump.

i'm from DC and it wouldn't feel right to say you're from either of those places though. DC is more and views itself as more independent

To be fair, I don’t think people from NYC really think of themselves as members of New York State or Chicagoans think much of Illinois. Cities of that size are essentially their own government already. I feel like being part of VA or MD is preferable to having Congress perform the same duties as a state government.

This is a great example of why I think the hallmark of American politics is hypocrisy. The right is all about corporations having a political voice until the left starts leveraging them to their causes. Conversely, the left considers corporate influence in politics to be evil until they start steering the influence their direction.
It will eventually reverse course and the sides will switch again.
Citizens United was correctly decided. It is still not a good idea. It's why Ive always said I'd support an amendment to the constitution to pare back the political influence of corporations.
