Masculinity isn’t automatically bad, but it also feels misapplied here. I think my issue is that the quality of helping others in peril isn’t a gendered trait, and treating it as such contributes to the argument over masculinity itself. People can be brave or helpful in many ways, and it’s not manliness that causes someone to act.

This is nonsense.

In the face a physical violent threat from a man, a masculine man is needed to help vulnerable people.

Pretending otherwise continues the trend of femenizing our men to the point where they cower in fear in the face of helping an old woman
