I actually knew what the term meant before the media started talking about it, so I actually understand it. Just because you learned a new term doesn't mean it applies exactly like you want it to. The origins are being researched through an evidence-driven approach, and so far there is no substantial evidence to support the gain of function claims. In fact, once you actually read what is being said, the claims themselves make no sense if you accept them all. But I know that has no bearing on your beliefs. That's the problem with beliefs. I have none. I accept facts until evidence provides additional information that improves our understanding. So far, waaaaaaaaay more evidence supports this being a natural virus that evolved normally, was not altered, and possibly got released while being researched due to an accident.

Where is your “evidence” coming from? The same scientists who performed gain of function.

By the way, I don't "get my news" from any one source. In fact, when it comes to something like this, I have access to excellent sources since I have actually been published by Nature.

Unemployment rate:
Sweden 9.4%
Norway 5.0%
I guess having a covid death rate 10 times Norway's didnt save the Swedish economy after all. Shame all those people died and they still got a worse economic outcome.
Unemployment rate in Denmark (4.5%) and FINLAND (9.0%) also lower than Sweden. And they too had far fewer covid deaths than Sweden.

If the evidence ever supports that China has figured out how to mask this sort of activity (and we live long enough to figure it out), I will accept those new facts. Until then, I don't run off and throw my whole life behind claims made entirely for political purposes without any actual evidence to support them. Could they somehow end up being correct? Sure. Pretty much anything that is possible is...well, possible. Is it likely? Not at all. Does any of the current evidence we possess support it? Absolutely not. But if they do end up true, you ask? Fine. I will accept those facts and continue to grow my own understanding of the world. I have absolutely no problem being wrong, because that means something new has been discovered or has been understood differently. That's excellent, and one of the many things I love about the scientific world. For now, I will stand behind that a whole multitude of people (some of whom I know personally) aren't involved in a mass coverup that spans political opinions, country boundaries, and every single value any of them have ever professed.
