This - not so much the Snitker part though. When an organization is in this position AND the big club is what many thought it was, I don't think AA has any problem with dictating the right moves to Snitker when it's time for him to. If Alex has to get involved in the on-field decisions, I don't think he'll shy away from doing that. Snit wasn't HIS GUY when he took the job, but he's given him the opportunity to get the team over the top HIS way and it hasn't worked. AA knows how seldom you're this close as a GM, and he'll do what it takes to get there if he has to at the end of the day. He blew everything up trying to win in Toronto when their window was open after all.
Freddie is the tough part. He's the next-coming of Chipper, and Alex rightfully understands what that means in the south where blind fan loyalties are like death and taxes. Whether the numbers (or science) clearly backs you up, there will simply ALWAYS be a large chunk of your fanbase (voting base) that you just have to appease EVEN IF YOU'RE WRONG. People here will desert the team for generations if you do something they really don't like, and they'll carry that grudge as far as they possibly can. They won't pay for their 10 year old kid's trip to a game when his (or her) little league team goes. They'll drop their cable/satellite subscriptions even if it means they won't have *hit to watch. I run into a handful of folks older than me (well into their 60s and older, a couple who used to take those little league teams on those trips) that not only won't go to the park, but haven't watched a game on TV because they blame Glavine for the strike years ago.
It's probably safe to assume that there will be a huge chunk of the fanbase that not only won't return to the park for a long time if Freddie's traded or not re-signed, they'll ACTIVELY start groups opposing the Braves/Go Fund Me pages to try to hit the organization financially/etc. now that we've reached the social media Nirvana we're dealing with.
