Depending on what they paid for RiRod, I think this was a pretty good deadline considering the likelihood of actually making the postseason.

Rizzo brought back a 50 and 45. Probably would have expected more along those lines had we sold. Particularly since Freeman is a good bit better than both players.

Bryant and Freeman are very comparable production wise right now. Rizzo likely brought back that much because the Cubs are paying all of his remaining salary. Not sure if there are any financial considerations with Bryant.

Braves had a bunch of guys from the last few drafts that have performed. Nice to have guys like Devito and Kalich to add in trades while not spending terribly high picks on them.

Frankly I'm surprised #Braves didn't trade for some bullpen help. Lot of relievers moved today, and prices weren't outrageous on quite a few.

DeVito 0-3 in 5 starts for Rome. OK ERA though. Kalich 0-2 for Rome, five saves, 3 something ERA.

Bryant gets bonus points for position flexibility, but when comparing offensive value and park factors, Freddie has been a good bit better. And ultimately teams are paying for offense.
