Trades/acquisitions

Tough for me to criticize a single thing AA did today - that's about as good ad you can improve around the edges without giving anything up.

As for the lineup, I wonder if they don't make Ozzie their "Mini-Acuna" for the rest of the season with Freddie going back to the #2 hole, and move Pederson down to break up the RH bats.

2B- Ozzie, 1B- Freeman, 3B- Riley, LF/CF- Duvall, RF/CF- Pederson, LF/RF- Soler, C- Vogt, SS- Dansby

Not bad at all considering he didn't give up a single important piece. FWIW, I liked Kalich quite a bit personally, but if I could've turned him into Soler while turning Bryse and DeVito into Rodriguez I wouldn't have hesitated for a second.

I'd guess that when Rosario is healthy, Heredia is the first odd man out. Arcia is probably the odd man out first. Adrianza is the guy we need to keep for the bench.

The bottom part of the lineup is definitely better on paper right now than before. Though its not hard to be better than Vogt/Almonte/Heredia/Pitcher

The thing that sticks out about R-Rod is that he walks virtually no one.

That was what was good about Chris Martin too... then the Braves screwed him up... lol

j/k Martin's struggles this year have nothing to do with walks... I think it has everything to do with his 5.88 k/9 this year compared with 10+/9 the past 2 years

We could have gotten somebody else and it not been reported yet. I wish we could have gotten Reynolds with Rodriguez somehow.

Gotta disagree - Almonte gets shown the door. Need to keep Heredia around for defense if you're not calling Waters or Pache back up.

Yeah, he’s not striking out anyone anymore.

We were never getting Reynolds and the Pirates were never trading him... at this point, I'm sure all deals have been announced

I’m not going to lose sleep over it, but Wilson, Ball, and DeVito aren’t dead weight. If one of these guys hit, we will all look back and wonder why AA bothered trading these guys for the chance to get spanked by the Dodgers in the first round.

With that said, I think AA had to show some commitment to the team given how they hung around. The most important decision that will be made this year will be signing Freddie to a fair but reasonable extension. I was worried that standing pat or selling on this team would leave a bitter taste in Freddie’s mouth heading into the offseason.
