The Coronavirus, not the beer

2 shots give 8 months of immunity how long will one booster last?

Two shots give antibodies that start out very high and then the effectiveness fades over 8 months. At the end of 8 months there is still a fairly good immunity, just not the extremely good immunity of right after the shot.

A booster probably gives another 8 months or maybe even more. The two shots are necessary for the initial vaccine because the first shot introduces the spike protein and the second stimulates the strong immune response. A booster stimulates another strong immune response, perhaps even a stronger one.

If you've already had covid, the first shot gives you the effect of the second. You have the strong immune response after the first shot as your body has already been introduced to it.

So boosters will likely be as effective as the initial vaccine with a chance of being more so. J&J apparently just did a study showing an even stronger response to the booster than the original vaccine.

I'm hopeful of getting some sort of free booster if I collect 9 booster on my Pfizer rewards card

go on

i think you are implying vaccines have not been effective in reducing death or hospitalization rates

but perhaps i am misunderestimating you

I'm observing that death rates are higher than they were a year ago despite half the population getting vaccinated

you not going to add a caveat about "delta" or that florida sees a lot of tourists coming from all over or that people congregate indoors during this time of the year

well i'm disappointed...i thought you were showing signs of a more subtle understanding of the state of affairs

I am curious how the hospitals are defining vaccinated or not. Tapate mentioned that they don't have people going around asking. And even if they did, how is that info getting disseminated to the people doing the reported? Are doctors able to see whether or not I got the shot even if I don't tell them?

No I get it.

"delta"

just wait for lambda

I believe hospitals have an extensive intake process where the patient (or a relative) fill out forms and are interviewed about things like medications, pre-existing conditions, etc. I'd be pretty surprised if vaccination status were not a routine part of this process by now.

Well, you’re in luck

They are free anyway

But your unhinged freak out about boosters is noted for like the 39th time

I'm observing that death rates are higher than they were a year ago despite half the population getting vaccinated

And the vast majority that are dying are vaccinated or not vaccinated?

this week a hospital's worth of doctors walked out on their patients and the covid cowards cheered

You fight for literally the dumbest and worst things in this country

It’s really incredible

It’s also why I laughed so hard when you attempted to go down the “what type of society do they want” lol

Wanting doctors to treat all patients is fighting for the dumbest thing?

You're strange

I'm just waiting for someone to call those that are recognizing the vaccine isn't what it was billed to be conspiracy theorists.

Gives me a clearer timeline to understand when you will see the truth.

Isn't the reinfection rate for those that got natural immunity basically zero?

Against Alpha it was like 1%. Delta is better at evading natural immunity. Current studies seem to show you're twice as likely to get reinfected if you rely on natural immunity alone as opposed to natural immunity and the vaccine.

Mind sharing those because I've read the opposite in that its almost a complete shield if you've had natural immunity?
