2022 Trade Deadline

I know Blackmon is shaky on defense but he’s better than Ozuna. He can hit and would no doubt improve the lineup.

I don't know, his road numbers are terrible this year and they always have been a lot worse... I don't think he's a very good player outside of Coors

"most of the buzz around Bard has focused on Colorado’s efforts to extend him, rather than shop him at the deadline."

Only the Rockies would be stupid enough to extend a 37 year old BP rental in the middle of a last place season. They are quite possibly the worst FO in all professional sports.

Still can’t believe they took all that money they saved trading Arenado and used it on Kris Bryant.

Jason Kendall: Where does Jose Quintana ultimately land, and what does he bring back to the Bucs?

Avatar Dan Szymborski: I could actually see him ending up with the Braves. There’s a lot of risk with him, but the team could use a 3/4 inning eater dude

Avatar Dan Szymborski: The return will likely be lighter than Benintendi’s

Avatar Dan Szymborski: Unless I’m REALLY misreading the Quintana market

Setting aside the fact that we've been assured the Braves don't need more SP, I would only be in favor of this if the price truly was effectively nothing AND it's known Soroka won't be able to eat any innings this year. He's basically a #4, shouldn't start in the playoffs over Fried, Morton, Wright or Strider, and I feel like Anderson is just as good as Quintana if he can figure out the control issues. He also makes sense if Anderson is shipped out for something very interesting in LF, though I can't think of any obvious targets that would be worth giving up on Anderson.

I am curious to see what anyone is expecting on the trade market. Farm system really thin

I mean, AA got Soler/Joc/Rosario/Duvall for pretty much nothing. But i doubt we trade for anyone that will cost a bunch. Sounds like we have cash available to take on, probably try to take on someone making a little bit who a team doesnt feel like paying down the stretch.

Quintana would be a good option to shift innings away from Strider down the stretch. I wouldn't be shocked if the Braves went to a 6 man rotation at times to keep the staff a little fresher for the playoffs.

The Rockies are so dumb I sometimes wonder if they're playing a completely different sport and operating on some other level of existence that is utterly alien to the rest of the baseball world. Like, maybe what they're doing is incredibly brilliant, it's just happening in a world of non-Euclidean geometry.

This is a team that refused to trade Jon Gray in the middle of a 74-87 season because they wanted to sign him to a contract extension, declined to make him a qualifying offer that offseason because they wanted to focus on a long-term deal and then watched him leave him in free agency while getting jack squat in return.

Hector Gomez: SOURCE: The #Padres are in serious talks with the #Nationals for a Juan Soto trade for. Talks have intensified since last night.

Kinda one of those things... Hector's sometimes right, but he's been REALLY REALLY wrong on a lot of things too. But the Padres would be the best outcome for us probably.

He was first on the Tatis extension and some other stuff. Wouldnt be surprising to see Preller do this though, i dont wanna imagine what it would cost from their side to get Soto.

It sucks for us to bc the Nats will get a ton of good talent back. I read where the Pads wanted Ohtani but the Angels don’t wanna trade him so I guess they pivoted to Soto. Several of us thought if anybody got him it would be SD. I just don’t see the Cardinals paying the price to get him then being able to afford the contract he’s gonna want.

Yes... as I clearly said... he's been right sometimes. He's been spectacularly wrong on more, though.

Gallo would be a bad idea at this point. The last time he hit over .200 was in 2019.

Average exit velocity
2019: 94.8 mph
2020: 91.2 mph
2021: 91.5 mph
2022: 88.4 mph

I don't think its any secret why Gallo sucks now and the last time he hit over .200 was 2019. Its more than just bad luck. He sucks.

Totally on brand for the Angels and Padres. The Nats may have figured out how to rebuild though.
