2022 Trade Deadline

They say Anthopoulos' office is behind the right-field bleachers, but that doesn't make much sense, since he's always coming out of left-field.

Odorizzi's not striking anyone out, but he's otherwise been a pretty solid innings-eating starter this season (3.62 fip, 4.15 xera, 4.61 xfip), on a low salary ($5m for 2022), with a 2023 player option ($6.5m) that I suppose he might pick up (but probably not, given the $3.25m buyout).

I had a feeling Smith would get traded. It's what you have to do when the farm is temporarily bare.

Not sure that was the motivation, given there's a little addition-by-subtraction, without even factoring in Odorizzi's potential contributions. Smith has been worth -0.5 war this season; I'll be happy to see other pitchers get those innings.

Braves get Grossman. Gross.

I mean, my first thought was, "but why?" However, he's been a 123 wrc+ as a RH batter for his career, and is producing to a 189 wrc+ clip as a RH this season; so it looks like the key is to ignore the fact that he's technically a switch-hitter, and assume he's the RH platoon partner for Rosario.

Would still like to see someone in the Happy class of player, who can play 2B for now but would represent insurance in case Rosario continues to play like crap.
