As is, wouldn't Harris be a super two and get 4 years of arbitration and not 3?
Honestly not sure. If so the cost for 6 years of control would increase from $30M to over $40M, so then the 8/72 makes more sense.

Harris debuted on May 28th. That will give him like 130 days of service time in 2022. The super 2 cutoff is usually less than 130 (116 last year), so Harris probably was going to get 4 years of arb.
That puts his 6 years of control at roughly $2 for the pre arb years, then something like $40M-$50M for the 4 arb years.
So the Braves likely got 2 FA years for $10M-$15M each, which is a pretty great value.
Not sure you are factoring in that if he finishes in the top 3 of ROY he will get the full year of service time.

Should be investigated on this deal.
"An eight-year deal beginning in the 2023 season would buy out all six of Harris’ years of club control — he debuted too late in the 2022 season to accrue a full season of service time before season’s end, barring a top-two finish in Rookie of the Year voting — as well as his first two free-agent years."
3 FA years if he's top-two in ROY, which is a near certainty.
