Around the Majors - 2022 Version

So they got rid of the "anyone in the system" rule?

Think that's the way I read it - yes. IIRC, players had to be part of the 40-Man at that point to even be eligible as injury replacements once the rosters contract back down to 26 when the playoffs start.

That’s not accurate. A player just needed to be in an organization to be eligible not on the 40 man roster

You're right - didn't go beyond the highlighted part...

Postseason Roster:

A postseason roster takes effect only if a team clinches a playoff berth. Players who are part of the team's 40-man roster or the 60-day IL on August 31 are eligible to participate in the postseason.
The one exception is for replacing players on the disabled list. Any injured player who is eligible for postseason play may be replaced by any player that was on an active or disabled list for either that team or any of its affiliated minor league teams at midnight August 31 with permission of the commissioner's office.

Ex-Braves HR Derby. Langeliers goes deep, but Joey Meneses hits a game-winning 3-run HR in the bottom of the 10th. Meneses may never have an extended and productive career, but he's had a month to remember and relish since coming up in early-August.

38-35 now
35-25 without

I thought it was worse with him... baseball is such a weird sport

yeah. Somehow the best starters still get no run support (like DeGrom and Fried) even when they’re pitching against a crappy starter whom our offense should light up.

Man, these numbers that DOB posted are unbelievable.

In 38 regular-season starts beginning July 28, 2021, #Braves' Max Fried is 20-6 with a 2.17 ERA, 222 strikeouts and 39 walks in 244 1/3 innings. He has lasted at least six innings in 32 of those 38 starts.

If he has a great finish, I think he has a strong case for the Cy Young. Braves spanking Sandy around on Friday helps.
