Official Playoff Thread

I'd rather live with a ring instead of what people 100 years from now think of me.

Bonds never got a ring.

For better or worse he’s infamous/legendary until the end of time.

Trout could finish possibly with maybe 600 homers. And he’d be on the inner third of the inner circle.

Yes, and that's what most players really seek, that collective feeling of accomplishment. That feeling is much stronger and lasts a lifetime. Individual stats don't do that.

I think a ring matters more in football than baseball. It's so ****ing hard to win a WS, as we've seen.

Astros vs Phillies.

Nola/Verlander Game 1, Framber/Wheeler Game 2. Should be fun.

Sure. Pundits will talk about Trout's career long after he's dead. But do you think he's going to care about that? I guess you could say he doesn't care about winning since he decided to stay with the Angels.

4 WS in 6 years is pretty damn incredible but only possibly winning one is not good. They should have won in 2019, Braves were just better last year. They have no excuse losing to Philly.

Astros lineup isnt as good as years past, and Phillies lineup isnt trash. Astros pitching has replaced their hot hitting from past years, basically everyone they throw, shoves sans McCullers early on tonight.

Phillies. Lineup. Is. Trash.

Remember when I said the Phillies were this year’s Braves?

Now we know how the rest of the baseball world felt last year.

While granted, we did get hot, at least we had a good lineup and a dominant pen. Our only real Achilles heel was our SP not being very deep, but in the playoffs that weakness can be mitigated due to days off.

Freeman and Riley were MVP candidates last year. Soler played really well his entire time in ATL, even before the playoffs. Albies and Swanson were good hitters too.

Phillies have to be the worst team I've ever seen make the WS.

2006 Cards are right there

Absolutely not players are here for the paycheck. It might influence then an little here and there but almost no one is talking large pay cuts to be on world series contenders. I have infinitely more respect for a 1 team player with no rings than a player with no team loyalty with 100 rings.

Until you realize that the Cardinals were coming off back to back dominant 100-win seasons and were making their 2nd World Series in 3 years. They had a great core (Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Carpenter, Wainwright) and were decimated with injuries that year.

I’d say they Phillies are better all things considered, but that ‘06 team wasn’t some fluke, although they may have had a flukey playoff run.

What is mandick going to do with Houston and Phils in the series. I mean he has to stay consistent and schedule every game at 1.

I have enjoyed not watching a game. And don’t care who wins.

I'd prefer Houston to win but strangely i dont even hate this Philly team. I wouldnt even be mad if they won. Just ready for the offseason to get underway and see what happens.
