Official Playoff Thread

Harper vs Trout may have already been decided. But Harper could end up with a ring with another great week while Trout won't be sniffing the playoffs for awhile.

Dont think they'll beat Houston but obviously nothing can be ruled out with the playoffs this year. Trout's incredible, just because the Angels suck at team building doesnt prove Harper/Trout debate lol.
 
Sheesh! Missed the game screwing around with my step-grandchildren. Is Camargo still in the Phils' minor league system? Time to get him activated for some prime time World Series heroics!

I do chuckle a bit at some of the fans for our guys. Phils have hit a hot streak and are piecing it together in a not entirely different fashion than we did last October. One of the joys of getting old (and I assure you there are not many) is that you can always sit back and say "Well, I've seen it happen before." Michael Lewis quotes Billy Beane saying "the playoffs are a crap shoot," which is something any baseball fan over the age of 60 already knew watching the Pirates beat the Yankees in 1960 or the Mets dumping the Orioles in 1969. Playoffs are an entirely different animal from the regular season.

Trout clearly is a better player. If Harper wins a ring this year I'd rather have his career to this point.

I dont think they'd beat Houston but who knows with how good they're playing right now.

But seriously, the Phillies look phenomenal. I’d be absolutely shocked if they take more than two (and I’m thinking the series only goes 5) against the Astros because they’re absolutely dismantling people. But as we learned last year, anything can happen in playoff baseball.

The Phillies have been getting incredibly lucky on balls in play the entire postseason. And they've obviously had good pitching from Wheeler and Nola for the most part. But that Astros lineup is something else. And Verlander will destroy their trash lineup.

Astros lineup isnt as good as years past, and Phillies lineup isnt trash. Astros pitching has replaced their hot hitting from past years, basically everyone they throw, shoves sans McCullers early on tonight.
