To be fair he's been pitching for World Series contenders all year.
And he was placed on waivers and then passed on by every other MLB team. That’s how the Braves were able to claim him.
Are people even paying attention?

If it isn’t Snell, Stroman, or somebody of that caliber then don’t waste the resources. If we wouldn’t start them in the first 3 games of a best of 5 then just stick with what we have.

I saw where the Giants are interested in Vaughn Grissom. Not sure how that’d work with them being in the playoff hunt and buyers as well.

Jace Peterson might be a reasonable target, but he can't play shortstop. Finding a passable back-up shortstop always seems to be the big issue when looking for a super-utility guy. There's a reason why toothpick bats like Adrianza stick around and it's because they can be at least an average short-term shortstop.

I'm sure alot of teams are, i wouldnt trade Vaughn away right now. This winter is when i think thats something you explore.
Yeah he has good value so can’t waste it on a rental. It only makes sense to trade him for somebody controllable.

Correct. Unless they are essentially a free #5 SP.
Tommy Edman is the obvious answer, imo.
I don't know, this is a team that just started Yonny Chirinos. Also, Elder is going to blow past his highest career innings. We could use rotation depth.
I’ll never argue against rotation depth.
What I’m saying is AA needs to get a playoff SP, and that statement holds true regardless of how much rotation depth he happens to acquire. This team needs to compete in the playoffs, not worry about which replacement level SP starts a few regular season games.
Take this list, and find every SP on it with an xwOBA under .320. Those should be the targets.
