2023 Misc Braves Talk

Kershaw has a decent shot, if he can make it another 7 years or 8 years. But making only 20-25 starts per year like he has recently makes it hard for him to get there.

Strider has started his career off on a pretty epic path. I doubt he gets anywhere close, but among the pitchers younger than 25, he has by far the most wins.

And of course there is Julio Urias who has 60 wins at age 26.

In order for Urias to win 300 he needs to win 15 a year for the next 16 years.

Wins is such a silly stat. The last time I cared about them is when I was about 11 years of ago. That was back in 1987 so I guess I was ahead of my time when it came to stats, lol

Thing about Urias is he started out the gate young like King Felix.

He got gassed and had fatigued arm end of last year or was it two years ago when LAD were using him and Scherzer in bullpen on side throwing days in between starts.

His arm may experience same issues Felix did.

I can’t tell if you’re really bad at math or English with this post. Lol.

Probably both now, lol. 1987 I was 11. I think my birth year was 1976. I’ll have to double check, lol. I also type stupid crap because I’m too lazy to double check what I wrote. I’m 47 with Ulcerative Colitis so my grammar has probably gotten a lot worse since taken all these meds. Plus I’m always high on Xanax and Sleeping pills because of it

Acuna joins Mike Trout as the only 2 players with 150 steals and 150 hr before turning 26. The Venezulan Trout indeed.

The Braves have a 28% to win the World Series. The Dodgers have a 14% and that’s second best. Fangraphs projects them to win 106 games, lol. With Fried healthy and Wright coming back, this is the best Braves team ever. 1993 team I felt was probably the best Braves team ever after they traded for Fred Mcgriff

Yeah, I feel you. It was just a funny sentence.

We'll never know the answer but I do wonder how close the Braves ever got to cutting Ozuna over the past few years. Especially this year

Pretty sure Marcel himself thought he was dosne earlier in the year. The rumor was the Braves were going to let him go after Ozuna reached 10 years of service.

For my money I will take any of the 96, 97, or 98 Braves team. The 96 team in particular felt like an absolute peak. The big 3 combined for 733 IP which just feels otherworldly compared to today. Chipper had a breakout year after already having a very good rookie year in 95. We had Andruw Jones doing a godzilla stomp through the minors and was considered one of if not the most hyped prospect in the modern era. We finally had a good close in Wohlers. Then that was ruined by a asshat who went on to beat his wife and killed a person driving drunk. May he rot in hell along with Lonnie Smith.

We tried trading him for Patrick Corbin if that tells you our desire to get rid of him.

Wonder what changed with him? I know he had bad luck at the start of the year, but he also got in Snit's doghouse back in April/May. And then it's like a flip switched after that.

What a heartwarming story. There will be an empowering 30 for 30 chronicling Ozuna’s trials and tribulations.
