My fist step would have been to not sit on my hands the last 2 years and allow so many holes and lack of depth to build up that I was forced to fill so many holes with mediocre/bad options. My next step would have been to hire a competent manager, which probably would have happened 2+ years ago when Quatraro was available.

I have no way of knowing what the markets are for players, so I'll have to wait until we know more about each player's market. However, right now, I would sit back and wait for whichever legit SP sees his market collapse, then swoop in and sign him. And I would NOT give up Waldrep for Peralta.

It depends - is a “damn thing” the bare minimum thing? And is that a “good” amount of thing, or at least “acceptable?”

If so, then you haven’t missed anything other than UNC’s insistence on sending pictures of his phallus to any and all interested parties.
 
Cubs got a steal here, imo. Caissie is the only prospect of note in this trade and he profiles as a Lars Nootbar/Mike Yaz type of player. Maybe Joc Pederson on the high end.

The other 2 guys are lottery tickets.
