    The Reverse Pennant Chase

Just one less win and we'd be in 5th. I'm very satisfied, we've done an excellent job at blowing games but keeping it interesting this year. I guess it was about this time last year that we had a huge comeback win that ended up coming back to haunt us in the end last year.

    Braves positional breakdown

I'm surprised we rank that poorly at 2nd base. I believe in Albies, but I'm not sure we'll improve vs this year in his rookie year. When you break it down this way, it's pretty easy to see that we need a few more good starting pitchers away, and since our "plan" is to homegrow instead of buy...

    Newcomb

Newk's issues definitely seem mental to me. Same with Folty. That issue the announcers mentioned where Newk nearly always goes 2-0 if he goes 1-0 is very prominent. Hopefully we have some of the best pitching coaches around to fix as many as possible of our semi defective prospects. I had...

Talking Chop has completed their midseason prospect rankings

I bet Coppy would agree that Swanson was promoted early but he'd say it was because the major league team had a need. As long as none of our current starting outfielders are injured or traded, then I think Acuna stays at TripleA. Same with Albies unless Phillips goes.

    Jair Jurrjens Gets 80-Game Suspension

The Braves went through a ton of what seemed to be good pitchers that did not pan out for very long. You could even go way back to Horacio Ramirez, Damian Moss, etc. Then I remember trying to compare that little lefty that worked offseason at Home Depot to Cole Hamels, he barely lasted two...

    Streaming TV And Braves Games

You'll have to go through MLB.TV, you can not get FoxSportSouth without going through a cable provider. I've been going internet only at a second home. It's doable, the main annoying thing to me is you can't easily switch back and forth between channels, etc.

MONDAY MINORS THREAD 6/5 ... First-half stretch runs

So Tooki's walks go up and his ERA goes down, weird. I predict by the time he gets somewhat ready for the majors that he will be blocked and he'll initially be brought up as a bullpen piece...and he'll dominate there and never get a chance to start again.

Friday MINORS THREAD 5/19 ... Rome loses in 18

I hadn't really thought about trading Kemp. Our front office trading Kemp if he brought only something minor back would shock the heck out of me. But it actually is becoming more and more likely if Kemp keeps putting up this type stats since we might actually get an offer that Coppy can't pass...

    Wentz video

They mentioned a lot of pitchers but missed Muller, is he already fading off the map? Anyone remember what position he also played in high school?

    Wisler

Hard to say if it hurts his trade value. I'm sure most scouts can look past what limited role he might currently have as a reliever and visualize him as a starter. The key is he someone needs to figure out how to be more effective, put up better stats. I was against it at first but the more I...

    Does it matter??

If this were basketball where a top draft pick makes so much difference I would be mad about this not going all in and dumping everyone strategy. But in baseball, the top draft pick is not that big of a deal. And I do think the front office factors in that a decent team will keep the...

    Official pre-Draft thread

The game that killed me was a huge comeback win probably late August/early September. I thought when it happened, "that had better not cost us". And it did.

    Fangraphs Top 100 Prospects

Yep, I remember one huge comeback win towards the last month of the season that made me mad. Bugged me the rest of the season that that win might cost us, and it did. But actually I did not like Senzel last year. It appears I was very wrong on that one.

Potential Starters at Every Full Season Affiliate

I'd map it out and try to figure out how to get Dickey pitching the first or second game in our sets as much as possible, preferably the game before Folty. I might even move him around some to keep the others at normal rest trying to take advantage of the next day knuckeball hangover.

    Untouchables

Looks like pretty good agreement: Freeman, Teheran, and Swanson on the ML Prospects with the most upside and fairly untouchable start with Maitan, then Albies, Acuna, or Allard. I'd hate to deal Inciarte but we do have Mallex. Swanson and to a lesser degree other options like Demeritte sort...

If we bring in 2 SP what do they do with prospects

I still don't think Coppy will start moving prospects. I also agree that I'd rather just add one veteran starter at most, but Coppy has been so adamant about adding two or three I just assume we'll likely have two vets among our five when the season opens. At least we should not have to see so...

Braves parting ways with Roger McDowell

McDowell seemed to be pretty much the best to me. I see this as a sign that we are not going with Snit. A new manager will want to bring in their own coaches.

    The Reverse Pennant Chase

Yep, we are still in good position and really closed out the year about as perfectly as possible for the team going forward if we can just manage to lose today. The game that almost and still might kill us was coming back from 6-0 down.
