    The Reverse Pennant Chase

Yep, I okay with the winning until that comeback from 6-0 down, that was ridiculously horrible. Come on dudes, go ahead and lay down a few, get back up to #2, or #3 at the worst.

    Projecting Folty for 2017

I'm with some of the crowd, I see a young Smoltz when I see Folty. That does not mean that I think Folty will make the HOF, but once he decreases his meltdowns he'll be a solid #2 and he'll have some legendary games at times. I see 15-10 with a 3.65 ERA in 2018.

Dansby Swanson Already Proving He Belongs

All this debating has me confused. I was under the impression that under the current CBA, there is no difference in the number of years you control a player if he is on season opening roster than if you called him up August etc the prior year. Is that not true? There was no way we were gonna...

Is it too much to ask?

I agree with the original poster wondering when will someone important step up. Wisler did early in the season, Folty tried at times. Finally both took a nice simultaneous short step this week. I'll be thrilled if they both can tack on a few more starts like those to close out the season.

7/23 SATURDAY Minors Final: Sterling Sims; Weigel flirts with nono

Makes sense on Swanson getting tired. I bet he got serious way before Spring Training. Then played more games in Spring than most, and played hard trying to live up to expectations. He seemed to fall off hard about the time that ex teammate went down. I hope this makes management make him...

How Many World Titles Would We Have

Interesting question. Steve Avery seemed to be much like Smoltz, very "clutch" in the playoffs. But even if he had stayed healthy, it would have been unlikely that he stayed great as long at the big three did. Early Bonds was not "clutch" in the playoffs, later Barry was. So I'd guess 2...

You forgot Fried KB, kinda between the two waves too.

    Pitching Prospects Stock Watch

Great post/thread. I wanted to think Newcomb should not be down, or Sims should be way up, but after thinking more, all evals seem dead on to me. To me Viz already showed he was an elite closer, but you are right, now that he's done it longer, stock will be way up.

5/1 SUNDAY MAY DAY MINORS finals THREAD

Sorry Rico, I thought you were just publishing organizational selections. I thought Ruiz hit .375ish and they still chose Boni over him. I also guess my dislike for Boni and optimism for Ruiz got to me..lol.

5/1 SUNDAY MAY DAY MINORS finals THREAD

How the heck was Ruiz not the Gwinnett player of the month over Bonifacio? What was his final average for the month?

    Swanson And Long-Term Commitments

This got me thinking about what would have happened if we had locked up Heyward. Actually IMO it could have still worked out the same. St. Louis wanted Heyward and had excess starters. We were coming off a bad year including losing a ton of starters to injuries.

    Platoons

I hope we go ahead and cut Bourn and Swisher loose. Replace them with Mallex and Kelly. I'll really be mad if we do not keep Castro on the roster. I do not want Bonifacio backing up at short. I do not think we'll see a true platoon and instead we pretty much just have Kelly in there either...

    Baseball America Braves Prospects

Sims IMO is getting under ranked so far this year. I guess he was not good enough for too long, but his stats after his move up seem to me to show that he was working on things, got moved up and got serious. I'd put him at #6 after I moved Olivera down to #11, behind Soroka but ahead of Mallex...

    Projecting Out the Rebuild

I appreciate the effort. Also I'd like to know how you have free time as a business owner, I sure don't. I've never seen a breakdown like this where you add in your cost controlled players to your base plus salary. I'd generally think that effectively get the best WAR out of your big earners...

    Bethancourt

I think it's an AJ issue more than a Bethancourt issue. We are struggling to score any runs as it is and AJ is the more effective hitter. AJ has more experience to help our young pitchers learn the game. If we bring Bethancourt up it will be too tempting to start AJ against righties, etc...

    Service Time

It can be tricky for sure. Like someone said, if we had left Heyward down we'd still have him this year. But then again, he gave us his best year as a rookie. I say bring up em, on the job training, figure it all out later.

AJC: Braves Could Go Into Rebuild Mode, Aim Toward 2017

I think this rebuilding stuff is just media hype. We don't want to lose Jason or Justin for only a draft pick. But the main way to fix this team is to give up Kimbrel. With Shae Simmon, Jaime, Walden, etc trying to close plus what we could get for Kimbrel, we'd be a much better team. As...

Trading Justin Upton AND Jason Heyward?

Good thread. Mainly I was glad to see a few mention that the obvious choice is to "rebuild" by trading Kimbrel. We can't afford to pay that much for a closer and we have in house options to somewhat replace Kimbrel. And funny enough with all this talk about getting back to the "Braves Way"...
