2015 NFL Draft

Yeah, not sure where you were getting that info, but its bunk.

Probably a great draft to need a RB as you can get a Coleman or Langford probably 3rd or the like much later.

Common sense and football intelligence are completely independent of each other. It's not the football intelligence that should concern teams.

And you know this --- how ?

a 19 year old kid used a water cup in Burger King to get a sip of soda ??

Living in a town with a high profile CFB team gives a window in how the national media and perception of players is whack.

Many years ago when the Falcons first drafted Prime the word on TV was what a risk he was and how his locker room personality would be a determent to team chemistry.

Problem was, anyone that knew Deion while he was here said the exact opposite. From 70 year old alum to Freshmen teammates.

People that know Jameis and work with Jameis tell a totally different story than national media ... did you know he took his baseball coaches to NYC to celebrate his Heisman Trophy ? Did you know he shows up un announced sans photogs at local schools and charity events ?

Did you know outside of a few youthful indiscretions his college life has been exemplary ? 4.0 student.

How about the rape, stolen crablegs, and yelling "**** her in the pussy" in the middle of campus?

How about the rape, stolen crablegs, and yelling "**** her in the pussy" in the middle of campus?

Was he ever convicted of rape, or even charged?
The stolen crab legs thing is sketchy all around and we don't know the details other than he took them. I've heard this is a "look the other way" situation frequently at that store.
The last one he sounds like a 20-year old college student. Give me a break.

How about it ?
This was investigated over and over and over and no conviction let alone, no charges.
Let's take for granted we have all had the good fortune of being a young man at 1 AM on a Saturday night at a college bar. I have a pretty good idea how that whole scenario went down - Read the transcripts. Read the accounts of what happened.
My problem with the issue is, next time maybe the woman actually was accosted rather than a willing partner with an axe to grind

"stolen crablegs"
Ever get a favor from someone ? Ever get hooked up with a "good deal" by someone or "get taken care of" by a friend ?
Not sure how this becomes a deal breaker for a team looking at a once in a blue moon QB

"yelling "**** her in the pussy"
A 20 year old kid acted like a 20 year old kid. Would I want my son to do something like that ? No
Do 20 year olds do stupid stuff ? Yes
A deal breaker ???

Question giles -- have you heard the stories of Peyton Manning's college days?
Really screwed his future and that of the teams he played for.

You are better than that

It is no secret across the SE that Tally LOVES their Noles. They have gotten away with stuff since Bowden came from South Georgia College. It is hard to get popped in Tally as a football player. You even referenced this culture a few times...

SO, that being said you questioned how I figure he has a common sense problem...

That culture that protects these guys like a bubble makes it very difficult for those "issues" to pop up to the public. It isn't a red flag he was investigated 3x for sexual misconduct, because I come to the conclusion lots of athletes get in these situations because of who they are... BUT to yell something like that in the middle of campus, while being investigated for said sexual misconduct, while being a Heisman candidate, while en route to a CFB playoff appearance and NC win last year... is just beyond poor judgement. It illustrates a poor understanding of situational awareness and tact. The other stuff would ALMOST be a throwaway if it didn't point toward a lack of understanding of his situation. I don't place much weight in those things, but they are worth noting. Especially if one's job is on the line like the player analysts the NFL employs... and likely be promoted\fired on his performance. ESPECIALLY with the conduct code the NFL expects these days...

The other things that "raise an eyebrow" are the outward spats with his coach on national Tv. Being the star player on a star program and having the coach tell you if you keep that up you are hitting the pine on national TV is not a video I like seeing if I am basing my job status off the kid in the NFL. It at the very least begs the question is this guy a capable leader on the football field? At the least if you are taking him #1 and investing millions and your job status.

I think he goes #1, as he SHOULD based on physical attributes and performance but to act like he isn't worth an eyebrow raise when it determines the career arc of scouts especially when you add in that protective bubble Tally wraps their players in...

I know lots of people that had a 4.0 through their core classes but had less common sense than the guy serving them lunch. That is not much of a point, but good for him. You are seeing the 'student' portion of student-athlete coming back into focus a LOT more. Especially if Universities are going to deliver stipends...

Yes, Peyton is probably the biggest ****head in the NFL. (at least of of the guys that don't beat their wives, moms, or girlfriends)

Winston lacks commons sense. Of course we all did stupid things in college, but while being the most famous person on campus and drawing attention to yourself in that matter is nothing short of stupid.

Yes, I have read through the transcripts and based on what I've read I think he did rape her. These athletics get almost any tail they want and aren't used to girls saying no.

As someone else said, Tally shelters these dudes. It's pretty bad when anything can even get out of there. How is stealing crablegs from a store similar to being taken care of by a friend?

Also, you can tell Fisher has to constantly be on Winston. Even post game comments, Fisher has to remind him to not say anything stupid.

Winston has size and talent for sure. But, his play last year was not very good at all plus you certainly have to worry about his maturity level. Those are big enough red flags for me to feel comfortable drafting him in the top 5.

He can steal all the crab legs he wants, if he's as good as everyone says he will be......no one will care, certainly not me.

People will care if he gets arrested in year 1. Or performs terribly like he did last year.

So terrible that they made the final 4 and he lead them to numerous comebacks.

Also, Glennon and McCown, so yeah, people won't care.

They didn't play anyone and the comebacks were because of how terrible he was earlier in the game.

So he gets no credit for rebounding and leading them to a victory? Got it.

On the whole, he was not good last year. 25 touchdowns to 18 picks.

Should he get credit for leading the comeback vs. FLorida 12-24 125 yards 2 td, 4 int? They had more talent than any team they played in the regular season last year by a long shot, but surprisingly had poor QB play.

Not saying he was good last year but he should get credit for leading them to comeback wins in every game but one. He could have just kept sucking and they could've went 7-5. He also dealt with A LOT of **** last year, most of it his doing but he was hurt as well......having a 19 year old block all of that out and just go out there and win and keep coming back is pretty impressive, most people couldn't do it.

Most people don't get picked #1. The ones that do will be highly scrutinized. Not sure why you and 57 don't get that.

In my time of following sports from the late 1950's to now - I can't think of a more scrutinized non-professional athlete (not named Tanya Harding) than Winston .
Fairly or unfairly - warranted or un warranted
