2015 WINTER MEETINGS THREAD

Per Crasnick:
#Braves want to add a CF, but don't want to surrender a draft pick for Dexter Fowler. Even Austin Jackson might be too pricey.

If #Braves can't add a CF in trade, they might just go with Michael Bourn and a low-priced RH bat, like Drew Stubbs.

If Drew Stubbs doesn't get your heart racing I don't know what will!

In other news: Braves front office wants to get better, but doesn't want to pay money to sign players. Additionally Braves management will not pursue trades to get better players because of their contracts.

It's 1 year of Chapman and a draft pick if he leaves. He probably resigns with the Dodgers since MLB only allows teams to get revenue from their MLB appointed region to make sure smaller market teams can't compete with the big market teams.

Bowman: The #Braves and Dbacks have continued to discuss deals that could include Miller or Teheran. AZ remains hesitant to move Pollock.

Assuming the deals are equal, is the general preference around here for a Diamondbacks (Pollock) or a Cubs (Soler) package?

I like Pollock as a player, but Soler is younger and very reasonably cost-controlled until 2020. So I'm hoping something works out with Chicago unless Arizona overpays.

Although if Arizona won't trade Pollock I'm sure Atlanta would take Dansby Swanson as a consolation prize.

I take Pollock over Soler if everything is equal. Soler just doesn't do it for me unless it's a Julio Teheran deal instead of Shelby.

That's actually not a half bad idea. I could see a deal centered around Swanson and Hill (plus his $12M salary for 2016), in exchange for Miller. Swanson would obviously be a long term piece, and Hill would be an expensive utility guy for one year. The DBacks would have to kick in another piece, probably a pitching prospect.

An IF of Riley, Albies, Swanson and Freeman would look pretty good for the next decade.

If we are going full rebuild... Trade Miller for Pollack... Teheran plus one of our better prospects for Baez and Soler and then send Markakis to who ever will take him. Sign a couple more stop gap SPers and start developing the young arms we have. Having Pollock, Soler, and Baez in the lineup would be huge.

This has been my hope the whole time. I love Teheran, but I would easily do a trade to land two guys like that. Pollock would be excellent.

Rosenthal: #Brewers listening on Lucroy. Teams love his contract - $4M this season with a $5.5M club option for 2017.

Sherman: #Braves continue to field lots of calls on Miller. Nothing close but #Cubs #Diamondbacks #Dodgers #Redsox staying in touch

We are still in on Pollock as well, but the team is still trying everything possible to not trade him. Apparently.

Pollock would be fantastic. Don't see it happening without us giving up to much. I'd be way more interested in getting multiple pieces. Like Jackie Bradley Jr., Swihart, and Owens, from the Sox.

Plus Felony Frank is in the Boston front office now so they are bound for a **** up sometime soon.

Source said this morning pegged odds of a Jose Fernandez trade at 1%. Now: "I'd push that into the 40s(%)." MIA can get a lot in return.
