2015 WINTER MEETINGS THREAD

DOB: #Braves Hart said they're looking for a RH-hitting CF, possibly another utility type player, and a catcher.
 
DOB: #Braves Hart: '17 is a priority, and I'm not negative on '16. We think we're going to be competitive in '16."

HOW ARE THEY STILL PREACHING 2017?!
 
Ingram: Just spent 40 min. with Hart and Coppy. They aren't trading Freeman. They aren't shopping Miller. They believe farm system is top 3 in MLB.

Also......They hope to obtain a catcher, a right-hand hitting CF, and a versatile infielder. Adding to bullpen is always a want as well.

Not sure any of that is realistically making much of a difference.

If they somehow did get Zobrist and trade for Pollock then the offense would be in pretty good shape. 2017 is still realistic but they have alot of work to do.

To be fair he can't really say. Hey we really need to trade miller to get a hitter or two. I think it is clear they are shopping him. Just easier to say they aren't.

Easily. I talked to Ben and he said he doesn't think we trade either Miller or Teheran - I disagree. But, I think it's interesting. With so much interest, I feel like we can heavily expect someone to overpay

Somebody needs to step up to the plate and ask Hart to elaborate on what his definition of "competitive" is.

I mean we could be competitive in a Fredi and TP Harley Davidson beer belly scratching league. We could win a game here or there I believe in that scenerio.

OR

Is competitive the fact that we will probably win around 70 games

OR

Competitive in a way that we start every game tied?

I don't see it in 16 and I don't see it in 17. I could see it in 17 if next years FA class was strong but it's not, it's probably one of the weaker classes in recent history.

The only way we will be competive if guys like Folty and Wiesler make a quantum leap and suddenly become Smoltz and Maddux. Even eith that, we still have a ton of question marks at a lot of positions.
