2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

My sources indicate that Hyssong was among the first to agree to terms; that would likely speak to a very good number for Atlanta.

Have been looking for his number since he signed - figured he and Mooney would be under slot, but they've been the ones keeping me on edge.

Heyman on twitter saying the Braves have a deal in place for Anderson for 4 million... wonder if that leaves much room at all to sign Nesloney and Mooney plus some other over slots after round 10

Wait a second... are you telling me that the #3 pick is willing to sign for 60% of allotted slot???

I've got us as $91,200 over slot with $4 million for Anderson.

Never saw a number for Hyssong, but if everyone left signed for slot, we'd have $70,005 left without going over the 5% allowance.

So that's 70,005 assuming the 9th and 10th rounders sign at slot as well, correct?

Correct - if Cumberland, Hyssong, Nesloney, and Mooney all signed for slot we'd be short of the big penalty.

IIRC, we'd have to pay a 75% luxury tax on the difference between whatever the final number is and the $12,460,000 we were allotted.

If Anderson was drafted second overall, then he would have demanded $5 million or he was off to Vanderbilt. Very good move by the Braves to get the third overall slot instead of the second, so they could get him for a million less.

we were allotted 13.3 or something like that.. how did you get to 12.46?

find me an instance of a college player, who's a consensus top 5 prospect in the draft by people outside the MLB, and who didn't have a pre-draft deal in place signing for 60% of slot. i'll be waiting a looooong time, I'm sure.

And you're still using information you gathered from him being drafted 11th, which is drastically different than being drafted 3rd. it doesn't really make sense because if he's drafted 3rd literally no one has the benefit of that information.

Assuming the numbers for Neslony and Mooney were favorable enough (and Cumberland signs for slot), we'd have a good shot at meeting Josh Anthony's rumored asking price as well without surrendering a pick next year.

They're college seniors. I'm sure they'll be far below slot.

Oh... you mean someone with even less leverage than Anderson?

(Still looking for the place I found the 12.46, but that link takes you to Callis' numbers .)

This is what I have.

$13,224,100.00 -- total slot value of our draft
$13,885,305.00 -- total plus 5%
$8,460,000.00 -- total of what is signed. this includes any of round 10+ picks over $100K..
$5,425,305.00 -- what is left to sign #3(Anderson), #76(Cumberland),#229(Hyssong),#259(Neslony), and #289(Mooney)

I put Anderson at 4 million, Cumberland at 1 million and then Hyssong, Neslony and Mooney at 100K each. That leaves us 125.3K for anyone else.

Still cutting it very close!!

It is going to me more like 10K each for the trio of college seniors you listed. So we would have something closer to 400K plus 100K for Anthony.

Not sure you know what a troll is.

I got attacked for saying Lewis could have been signed for $4M... and was told that no 3rd pick would ever sign for that little.

That doesn't appear to be the case

so you think if Anderson and Cumberland land for ~5 million and those other guys hit for 10K, you would offer 500K to Anthony?

I was looking at some numbers. Hyssong's money is important. if he signed for anything less than 100K then even loosing Neslony and Mooney slot value would not mess our draft up. it would kill any chance at Anthony..but they don't hold as much leverage as I thought.

We aren't going to lose the slot value for Neslony or Mooney. Neslony's season is still going on, and Mooney has zero leverage combined with not actually being a good player. Both will sign and do so for cheap.
