2016 Trade Deadline Rumors and Moves

The snap chat was faked too. If he's traded to the White Sox then I'm thinking Sale would be involved.

We will sit by as teams with pitchers not as good as ours will pull off trades like Moncada and others, while we will give away assets for someone like Puig. I hope I'm wrong, please God let me be wrong.

I doubt we are giving up assets for anyone now. If it happens it'll be the off season

I could see Coppy trade for a controllable SP, i think he said he'd like to trade for one if possible.

Otherwise, we'll let teams make offers and let the chips fall where they may.

The Braves trading for Puig is the type of buy low type scenarios they need to do.

I think so too... you can probably get him for pretty cheap... worry about the attitude, but if he can mature and grow up a bit and become a team player... he has all the raw skills to be a superstar for a long time. I don't have much faith he will mature, but its worth the gamble IMO and I doubt we have to give up too much to make it happen.

See... there are times when I can agree with you

Hmm.. I wonder what the hold-up is with the Jim Johnson trade? Chris Cotillo mentioned yesterday that JJ has been almost traded for days now. It couldn't be salary-related or low prospect related at all, so what could the hold-up be? Being a part of a bigger trade?

The Brewers are obviously pushing hard to trade Lucroy, and the national writers feel that Norris is also very likely to be traded. If these two are traded to teams who would have otherwise been in on the big FA catchers, it may help damper the market a bit for us. You don't figure MIL or SD will be going after one of the big FA catchers given where they are in the rebuild process.

There are obvious concerns with Puig, but if we could buy low enough, it might be worth it.

I don't want Puig, but I could see the thinking behind it for which ever team does take him back. He's 25 years old, and he has two affordable years left. He has toned down his act a lot. I hear he's hitting cutoff men and these days. He still has that bravado that could drive him for his next payday. He's going to want to hit the FA market at 27 and get that Cespedes money. Whomever does acquire him could get value in 2017 and surplus value in his contract year. If he got hot he could fetch more than you're giving up now in the summer of 18

I would rather trade for Norris than get a FA

I wouldn't mind trading for Norris if the price was low enough. His performance has declined 3 straight years, but he's still young at 27. Good pitch framer. Controllable through 2018 (assuming he performs well enough to avoid a non-tender). We should match up well with the Padres since they could use some young pitching.

My guess is the braves Plan A trade partner has another plan they are waiting on. The Braves will move in to Plan B if the other team gets done their first BP arm choice.
