2018 MLB Draft Thread

Wow, Keith Law’s latest mock has us with Stewart too, calling it a “late shift.” He mentions Gorman and Singer, if he falls, as other options.

These day-of mocks have been pretty accurate in the top 10 if I’m remembering correctly.

Also interesting that the Stewart picks have us passing on Liberatore. I’m fine with it, but definitely caught my eye.

Law has him at #2. Bart goes 1, Phillies get Mize at 3.

Mize would be enormous for Philly. I hope that doesn't happen. I can't imagine he gets past Detroit. Mize would fit with Philly's timeline perfectly.

Nola mize would be a kick in the nuts. That doesn't need to happen

I’m a big Stewart fan so I’m good with him at 8. Stewart, Liberatore, and Gorman would be the 3 in order I would go if everybody else is gone.

Both writers flipped their picks from Gorman to Carter Stewart. I’m big on bats>arms, but this is the route I’d go with Gorman’s questions.

Maybe we can cook up a scenario where one of the top college bats falls to #8...

1. Detroit takes Mize.
2. Giants take Winn under slot.
3. Phils take Madrigal.
4. ChiSox take Singer.
5. Reds take India under slot.
6. Mets take Bohm or Bart.
7. Padres take Liberatore.
8. Braves take Bohm or Bart.

It all hinges on the Giants pick at #2.

Some team being afraid of missing out on the next cold weather star could pop Kelenic and help the Braves get a college hitter.

There are also these "Murray rumors" that seem to be causing teams to consider going under slot with their first pick. I don't know anything about the kid, but he cold be the reason a college bat falls to the Braves at #8.

Either way, getting to choose between Gorman, Stewart, Swaggerty and Kelenic at #8 will get them another Top 100 guy. Prep bat, prep arm, college bat...almost all groups to choose from here.

Keith Law: I think Stewart to Atlanta, Adams to Texas, and Denaburg to Washington all are "very likely if the players get there" sort of picks.

Kyler Murray was a 5 star QB and is in line to start at Oklahoma this year.

I'd draft him if he devotes himself to baseball. Athletes like that these days are rare.
