Well MadBum isn't a TOR at this point... so unless he's cheap I hope not

A few people were saying that about Verlander before his change of scenery. Mad Bum is still in his 20’s and never had an ERA over 3.32 so I have a hard time thinking he’s washed up.

We have one poster here who wants to give up Fried plus Newk plus 2 more guys for MadBum, and then extend him for another 6 years.

We will see who’s right.

I wouldn't give up either Fried or Newk.....

But we are gonna have to do something at some point-
This is obscene:
Newk
Anderson
Fried
Wentz
Touki
Gohara
Soroka
Wilson
Wright
Muller
Weigel
Parsons
Sanchez
Sobatka
Ynoa
Beck
Allard
Tarnok
And those are just the ones **I** think hold some/a lot of value.

Anibal Sanchez or Ricardo Sanchez??
Because Anibal sign with Nationals and Ricardo is now with the Mariners.

Anyway many of this prospects they are 2 or 3 years away to make it to the majors.

The lower ring may be 2-3 years away but I'd take the side that says 11 of those guys could easily taste the majors....because they already have. There is a logjam and judging by the Q&A with A list members, which if these guys won't be here because they are "add-ins?"

I didn't say washed up... I said he's not a TOR pitcher anymore and he's not... he's a solid 3. You really think a pitcher that's pitching in the league's best pitchers park needs a change of scenery? A guy who doesn't pitch near as well away as he does at said home park... for his whole career.

An argument such as "Verlander blah blah did it so MadBum will too" is awful analysis. So you want to pay the price for an elite TOR ace (under control for just a year) because Verlander did it? Plenty of very good to great pitchers have a handful of dominant years and decline rapidly in their 20s... much more common than a Verlander. Also MadBum has never come close to the level of Verlander in his prime. Everyone remembers MadBum for his playoff performances but his stats even at his best were just very good and not really elite. I'm not gambling ace prices for a guy who hasn't come close to ace status in 2 years, has possible health issues, and has notable home/away splits in the best pitching park in the league. That would be really really dumb.

Not really sure who that trade could be.

Could be Gray/Frazier as Scheff has said, could be Haniger, could be JTR plus, could be Peralta, could be no ones talking about.

Could be rangers for an of or two.

Aa could do anything.

Could be a three team deal.

Secondary pieces does suggest a big deal. But it could be a ton of things.

We are strapped for cash it appears. The versatility of acuna and Albies and comargo means we could go in a ton of directions. It wouldn’t shock me to see us deal Swanson or ender. I don’t think we will but we could.

Also possible that we have follow up deals off of the first one.

I’m ready for some news.

And it could've been a lie

not to mention verlander was better than MadBum all along, and even his "down season" was really good. he also hasn't had the recent injury issues.

My guess is that the trade AA mentioned is for Gray. I don't see us really moving the needle on anything going forward. We'll add a bargain arm to the pen from the pool of whatever is left before the season starts, take a stab at a "buy low" for the rotation like Gray (Similar to Gausman deal) and start Duvall in the open cOF slot.

Duvall won’t be our starting COF, AA will get one.

2014-2016...
MB = 14.1 fWAR over 99 starts ~ 0.14 fWAR per start

JV = 11.0 fWAR over 86 starts ~ 0.13 fWAR per start

Right, but AA wants to have our team be made up of as many of his Blue jay buddies as possible.

And that bothers me. I'm all about guys being able to bring in a set of folks that they have a good working relationship with, but I don't see the Jays as any kind of model franchise.

i mean, it's convenient to select a frame that suits you. but verlander's career is far better than bumgarner's. and then take WAR from, say, 16-18 and let me know how it looks.
