2019 MLB Draft Thread

But is it as foolish as saying someone will become their top .001% talent ceiling

Who says that is his .001% ceiling? I didn't know we could quantify potential like that.

The guy could lose his mind and turn into a round turd stuffing his face with Burger King all day for all we know.

No...

Claiming you "know athletes" because your dad played baseball makes you look foolish.

Betting Acuna will go 30/30 in an abbreviated rookie season makes you look foolish.

Losing that bet and then backing out on the payment makes you look foolish.

Defending a guy comparing every single draft prospect to a HoF player makes you look foolish.

No doubt. I chalked it up to youthful stupidity and have moved on.

You are what? 35? 40?

Man, Fangraphs has Misner at 21. That would be really disappointing. He’s not good.

In their scenario Abrams is gone, they get the bat they like the most at 9, and none of Rutledge/Manoah/Allan/Priester are available at 21.

At that point I have no idea who I would rather see them take.

Fangraphs and Callis have Langeliers at 9 and Misner at 21. Hope they are wrong. But since both have the same, obviously they are hearing something in that regards

Better than me? What P5 college or professional team?

Small(ish) college in Tennessee after blowing out his knee. He was considered just as good (by old friends who talk to me) as his teammate that was drafted 1st round by an MLB team. I have the letters from the Pirates, Orioles, and various colleges around the country. The head coach at Princeton wrote on his scouting report that he had unlimited potential in some areas. Made the All-East Coast team or whatever at some camp playing center field. His other teammate throughout school in football played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Injuries, man.

I was absolutely terrible, though. Haha. I am the nerd in the family who reads the dictionary.

So you're hanging your "I know athletes" hat on a second hand "if only I didn't get hurt!!" story? Not even your own "if only I didn't get hurt" story?

Doesn't even sound like a D1 college to me...

Cool story bro...stick with your career path towards being a tire store middle manager...probably in TN somewhere.

IDK. Receiving draft interest after obliterating your knee and being on one of the greatest teams in the history of your region is pretty impressive to me.

Tell us your bona fides, hero.

You won a College World Series and were drafted 1st round, right?
