2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Interested to see what Cleveland gets back. IMO, with them being willing to move him now, I think there is something wrong. Not necessarily health but maybe something like an alcohol problem or attitude issue. I think buyer beware.

Boy that's a whole heaping plate of speculation.

It's cause he broke covid protocol and is at the best point to trade a guy for max return.

Rosenthal: Source: Deal is Clevinger, Greg Allen and PTBN to Padres; Quantrill, Arias, Cantillo, Hedges, Naylor and Miller to Indians.

Wow... looks like a quantity over quality MLB/close to MLB type players... I feel like this would not have been hard to beat.

What would the equivalent for us be if we have offered the same? Did Padres overpay or get a deal?

I'm now hoping we go after Plesac. Less expensive and more years of control. What would it take?

Well, let's hope AA really has been aggressive and we had another target all along, pipe dream but maybe we can still get Bundy, Lynn, or Bauer

AA could have matched this easy. We could have done it for Clevinger and nobody else from them involved. This sucks.

I don't think we were ever really in on Clevinger in any big way. The fact our name was batted around so much supports that. AA runs an EXTREMELY quiet ship and expects other teams to keep it quiet. It's rare to hear even a mention of our interest in a player before a trade is announced.

Personally, if I had to guess who we'd get if we get another starter, I'd say Mike Minor. FA after this season so the case wont be super high and there's no long term commitment. Would benefit from getting out of that park in Texas. Just fits what AA likes to do.

That’s a pretty weak return for a number 2 pitcher.
Makes you wonder if we were even in on him.

I really dislike what AA "likes to do" when it comes to our rotation.

It's a disaster and has been for a few years now.
