2022 Spring Training Thread

Contreras will be our main bench piece this year. His bat should play well everywhere.

I hope so because so far his bat hasn’t even been good enough to backup Catcher. Lots going for him potential wise but it has yet to translate. And even if he’s good enough to be a backup catcher…. That’s far from his bat playing everywhere.

Wright coming in for ynoa. Bringing him in for relief doesn't bode well for his starting chances out the gate, right?

Ynoa was much better after the devers HR

I think the team is ok with piggybacking and openering the 4th and 5th slots until someone stands out.

Wright starting game three, Ynoa game five.
Max, Charlie, Wright, Anderson then Ynoa is how the defending champs come out of the gate ..... probably Strider for game six so everyone gets extra rest ...

Yeah the bench is still a big concern as usual.

I'm wondering how much the bench will come into play for us this year. Obviously, it's going to be good to get guys some rest, and have the flexibility with the bench to do that. On the other hand, should be less pinch hitting opportunities late in games now with the DH in place.
