I knew that was coming. The Friars needed the spot more than the cash. They were going to send money with Hosmer for sure.
 
100% correct. It was right in line with expected surplus valuations.

Bowden is also saying if Hosmer agreed to go that Padres will pay all of his remaining salary.
 
Mets get the gNats 8 more times (Jacob is starting tonight... didn't see that) and the Braves see them only 6 more times. those seem like gimmie puts in golf.. we have to win all 6 of those games.

I think we need to see full terms before judging, and to see if Hosmer excepts trade.. but I would bet the Friars will cut him if he doesn't.

That’s my point. There’s no reason for the Nats to take him off the Padres hands. They’re not going to be able to turn around and trade him in a year, because he’s not any good.
 
I’d say Hosmer is gone in the next 5 hours to a team not on his no trade clause with SD eating most, if not all, the rest of that contract.

Then....why even bother trying to include him in the trade? Simply DFAing him accomplishes the same thing without all the drama.

Preller is a TV character.
