Quite frankly I think that’s the right strategy. In an election where a lot of people are happy to vote against Donald Trump and JD Vance, I think just driving turnout by making (non-right leaning) people want to vote for the person on the ticket is a strong strategy and one the Dems haven’t gotten right in either previous election against Trump. I understand that electoral strategy and covering gaps in the ticket are a real consideration, but this is a campaign very intentionally being built on excitement and energy, and Walz helps with that a lot.
Who is more likeable than a former military/former Astronaut whose wife was the victim of political gun violence?
Seems more likely that the popular picks either turned them down or were deemed far too centrist to match the direction the Dems are going.
How do the Dems win PA now with rabid radicals and shunning Shapiro who is a popular Gov?
Anyone spinning this as a smart decision is not too bright
Because Shapiro will still be out campaigning for Harris. Not the same, but it’s not like they just told Pennsylvanians to go **** themselves.
EH.
Idk I think a lot of voters care about allowing your cities to be burned down.
I just don’t think that attack works in an election against Donald Trump. J6 isn’t the electoral wildfire Dems made it out to be the past 4 years, but I don’t think you can credibly campaign on riots in Minneapolis when Trump is so closely associated with an even more well-known riot.

Difference is Walz actually had control and chose to allow it to happen. And of course, there was much more death and property destruction in MSP
I think you’re being naive if you think the general perception is that Walz has more to answer for than Trump on that front though.

Decent little thread here. Walz is not going to be as easy to paint as a Commie as people might think.
