Decent little thread here. Walz is not going to be as easy to paint as a Commie as people might think.

LOL, a fluff piece from a lifelong Democrat. He isn't the demograph Walz has to appeal to.

They will need to spin the narrative one way or the other. Passing over a popular Governor from the largest swing state in favor of a relatively unknown governor from a traditionally blue midwestern state is.... perplexing to say the least. The current narrative being thrown around is that Shapiro either passed on the offer or the Dems view him as too moderate (and fair or not too Jewish) as the VP selection. Neither of these look very well for the Dems.

The other thing to consider is this pick was pretty mediocre overall. Another old white man on a Dem ticket (ok 60 isn't THAT old, but he looks a good bit older than 60 to be fair). It isn't going to give Harris the boost that a bigger name like Shapiro or Kelly or Cooper would have done. Imo, this pick stalls the momentum the Harris campaign had seen the last week and a half. I think next weeks polls will show that.

I suppose Dem voters should thank their lucky stars it wasn't Buttigeg though.

I’ve just not seen any reason to believe this. Every progressive I’ve talked to is excited in a way I haven’t seen since 2008 and he has everyone from AOC to Manchin lauding the pick. We’ll see if you’re right, as I certainly don’t have my finger on the pulse of middle-America outside of my circle. If the polls prove me wrong, so be it. But I’ve *always* been a proponent of finding the candidates that the average person *likes*, and that’s absolutely been the consensus on Walz from what I’ve seen.

I think there’s a good argument to be made for Walz if he really is someone that’s going to excite progressives, especially the youth. I think it’s a bit of a misnomer that you need to appeal to the center to win generals, especially since that demographic can be fickle. Turning your base out has a much higher ROI.

If you think the opinion of progressives are going to be the deciding factor in this election, then you simply haven't been paying attention this election cycle.

I think it's hilarious that leftists are excited more than in the last 15 years over a decision that was made for them.

They are hive mind creatures who want to be told what to think. That's why you all are a monolith

Well they are big government... can't trust yourself to make decisions.

It's hard to believe that the combined IQ of the candidates actually went down since replacing Biden. I can't express how much I hate our choices.

As opposed to other VP decisions? We’ve had nothing but **** candidates for years and Walz doesn’t appear to be in that boat, so of course we’re excited. I disagree with the idea that we were simply told what to think on this, though. There’s been a concerted effort from progressives to select Walz over Shapiro, and it worked. Time will tell if it was the right decision, but Walz was the more popular choice for the base.

You're more excited than with Commala was selected as VP? Isn't she now the head of the ticket?

Yes, I’ve been rather forthcoming with my disapproval of Harris leading the ticket. Her campaign is vastly outperforming my expectations thus far, but I was one that preferred an open convention.

Yes. I think she’s bad at talking to people. I think she’s better than Trump, but that’s not exactly a high bar for me.

Yeah they have done a good job not having her speak to anyone publicly or make any statements to the media.

The dems have been very adept at using the basement treatment.

I don’t agree. Trump’s best quality is his charisma. I think he’s generally an idiot but he knows how to capture an audience

Sorry, you’re quite right and I need to clarify. He’s a very good salesman and has great instincts for entertaining, but exceptionally bad at talking to people who aren’t charmed by that. He’s a poor listener, turns everything into a chance to promote himself and is prone to aggressive personal attacks.

Yes, as someone who doesn’t particularly like Harris that’s part of it. Right now they have the luxury of taking advantage of the chaotic news cycle to build hype without saying much and it’s been effective. I don’t think that will continue past the convention, if that long.

The communists are thrilled about the communist ticket that the communist regime installed without a vote

This seems accurate. Once MN got the trifecta of the governor and the state legislature on D, Walz went balls to the wall in implementing communism state wide.

There is literally no other reason.

Congrats Democrats - You are the Jew hater party.

Yeah that's what's happening. Not that Harris wants to carry the whole rust belt.

Tim Walz has more charisma than anyone in the race and he appeals to crowd who likes the folksy but liberal which is a healthy chunk of the middle. Shapiro has 2 things against him, first he can deliver PA, but he probably doesn't bring much else. Second and more important he opens up a potential change in government in PA which is not what the Democratic party wants. Walz leaves Minnesota a dem probably wins that seat.

Only retarded right doesn't like this pick. The fact that you have to go denegrate the democratic party by saying they hate Jews means it was such a slam dunk pick. It means you're afraid of Walz. No dem reacted like this to Vance. Because no one cares about that weirdo.
