+ all the undocumented ones who are nannies to our children, laborers repairing the roofs over our heads, food industry workers preparing our favorite meals and landscapers making our lawns look so good
no one is holding a gun to a single American's head to hire these people...they do so out of self-interest for the benefits provided...to the extent to which there is any exploitation it is Americans doing the exploiting and benefiting from it

that's why in the name of advancing knowledge i want to see 10 million plus undocumented migrants deported
either there will mucho disruptions or there won't be
but it won't happen because the GOP will listen to its prize constiuencies, such as farmers and small businesses, and quietly shelve its campaign rhetoric about mass deportations
there will be some selective symbolic and performative deportations but nothing on scale...cuz mass deportations would hurt Americans and the economy...the dirty little secret is that Americans benefit massively from illegal immigration, all the whining notwithstanding

It will happen in waves and it overnight. It will also be done in connection with evaluating a more merit based legal immigration system.
So like evaluation of tariff effectiveness - looking at things over a short term period is naive and intentionally deceiving.
