2024 Minor League Thread

I’d give Nacho until the deadline. If he’s still hitting like this, call him up. Not before. He’s two weeks removed from posting a sub .700 OPS at AA. I don’t care what the park is like.

Yeah I want to be optimistic, especially with him showing some power recently, but FG has his AAA EV at 85.7 which is... not great

On the bright side, it couldn't go any worse than Jackson Holliday's call-up.

All Nacho would have to do is get on base hitting in the 9 hole and that’s his best offensive quality. As long as his defense is better than average he’ll be an upgrade.

And I was there. Left before the grand slam because it had already gotten pretty ridiculous. Striipers were hitting ropes all over the field all night long. Really big night for White and he looks the part, but he is kind of an adventure in center field. Alvarez did not play but was listed as being on the bench. I thought they might be holding him out in case they had to run him to the airport if the Braves called him up.

Other observations.

Waddell hit the ball hard and made a couple of nice plays at shortstop, but he's so short he probably can't get on a lot of amusement park rides.

Baldwin DHed. Had the worst statistical line of the Stripers' hitters, but he smoked two balls that were right at Saints' infielders. He has a nice stroke.

Gurriel can still play. He still has that quality that says "I played in the big leagues a long time." Probably can't do it physically at a consistently high level, but he's polished and that stands out even in a AAA game.

Vines had a nice line, but the defense bailed him out a couple of times.

Liberto had a good game. Rail-thin, but very smooth.

Tromp went deep and took a foul ball to the netherregions.

Stripers' first base coach Wigberto Navarez is a giant.

Yunior Severino--one of the forfeited signings from the Coppolella caper--plays for the Saints and he hit the ball really well. Hit a doulbe off the center field wall and almost had another to the exact same spot, but White somehow made a great catch after getting all twisted up and not finding the ball until the last second.

DOB came out and said Nacho is dealing with an illness.

What the heck has gotten into Nacho??

I missed him by a day. Hard to tell on the HR surge with him. Hasn't shown it at any point in his career up until now. Hitting coach--Dan Dement (new to the Braves' organization)--might have seen something. Whatever, it's really promising.

It rained like crazy up here yesterday and I was surprised the game was played. There was a window from about 6 until midnight when it didn't rain, but it rained hard from noon until 5 and was misting the rest of the time. CHS is a newer minor league park and all I can say is the drainage system was be fantastic.

First time seeing Nacho on film. Physically, his frame reminds me a lot of Miguel Tejada. Definitely looks more like a 3b based on that alone. Would be interested in seeing his defense first hand.

And no, I'm not projecting him to be Miguel Tejada as a player.

I think it's a little premature to project him to be Miguel Tejada
